Hi,

recently i've started to use a natural estrogen cream (estrol) as well as a natural progesterone cream because I have severe menopausal symptoms. Has anyone else tried this with any success?

Thanks,
dj

I only use progesterone. Cannot do estrogen at all. Have been on progest for 2 years now and so far have not had any problems -- other than the fact that menses has stopped and I no longer have hot flashes! Hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

i've tried the progest alone and it wasn't working very well for me. It worked at first but my symptoms have changed over the last 10 years. My periods have stopped and I have blood sugar problems as well as hot flashes/night sweats and heart palpitations.

I've only used the natural estrogen for about a week and I feel better already. I'm really hoping this will continue to help. I was just wondered if anyone else has improved with using the estrogen cream.

i am very anti-estrogen. Please read about estrogen. It can cause various kinds of cancers that we women do not need. Good luck to you in your health choice.

Hi again,

i was reading in Dr. Lee's book "what your doctor won't tell you about menopause" about how many women need extra (natural) estrogen in the menopausal year. He's very anti-estrogen in most cases as many women have estrogen dominance. I know I did when I had heavy bleeding with my periods etc. Has anyone else read this in his book?

the key to his comment are the words 'many women.' not all women need it or can take it, for various reasons.

I know that I probably do need estrogen -- the walls of the uterus are very thin -- but because of the hyperplasia 2 years ago my doctor does not want me to do anything with estrogen -- not even the vaginal creme.

Considering that my periods were quite heavy -- ever since I was 12 1/2 -- I prob also have estrogen dominance.

yes I have read Dr. Lee's book and he does say that some women need natural estrogen later in peri or in the early menopause years. I am just starting this peri journey and like you, I have hypoglycemia symptoms along with anxiety. I have been using the natural progesterone that Dr. Lee recommends in the book for the past two months and I have felt worse this month! I remember the book says that this is common to happen in the beginning as you are waking up old estrogen receptors. I sure hope it changes soon because this has been a very rough week for me with hypoglycemia symptoms on top of pms!

I believe that we are all different and we often know our bodies better than anyone else (including our doctors).

Good luck on your journey to health!

I have had a life long problem with hypoglycemia. What works for me is eating small portions of food, every few hours while I am awake.

Good luck with yours and hope you get resolution soon.

Thanks! I am eating small meals every two to three hours that contain protein, fat and a little complex carbs. It's been a bad week with a lot of fatigue, weakness, dizzyness etc even with a perfect diet. I had bloodwork done on friday and got a call today from the lab saying all was normal so I guess it's just more peri-menopause symptoms.

How can everything be "normal" if I feel so :/
