Hey

My friend is always throwing up his food and always feeling really dizzy and his stomach well his gut as he would call it always hurts him, he is always tired and seems to be never happy he has always been skinny but everybody thinks he has gotten even skinnier and before he when he hadnt been as skinny as he is now he used to be always laughy and cheery but he isnt anymore!!! Ive asked him a few times if he thinks he is anorexic or bulimic but he isnt sure he, he knows he is very skinny but he always jokes around that he is fat, he doesnt seem to want to do anything about it but he can also tell that something is wrong with him he has told me he feels that way and im woundering if u think he could be bulimic????? He is around about 170cm tall and ways around 50kg he looks like skin and bones. What should I do how can I help him?? If you could reply it would be very appriciated because I really am starting to worry thank u

Hey there. Here's to help you figure this out, hope it helps:

the symptoms of bulimia, from (http://www.Netdoctor.Co.Uk/diseases/facts /bulimianervosa.Htm):

according to the world health organisation, the criteria for a diagnosis of bulimia nervosa include the following:

* persistent preoccupation with eating and an irresistible craving for food.

* episodes of overeating in which large amounts of food are consumed in short periods of time.

* excessive exercise, induced vomiting after eating, starving for periods of time or taking medicines such as laxatives or diuretics to counteract the bingeing.

* fear of obesity, which is also seen in people with anorexia nervosa, and there is some overlap in the symptoms of these two diseases.

On anorexia, (http://www.Netdoctor.Co.Uk/diseases/facts /anorexianervosa.Htm):
# body weight is maintained at least 15 per cent below that expected for a person's height.

# it is self-induced weight loss caused by avoiding fattening foods and may involve taking excessive exercise, using laxatives or diuretics or self-induced vomiting.

# there is a strong, almost overwhelming fear of putting on weight, with sufferers preoccupied with the shape or size of their bodies.

# rules are invented regarding how much food is allowed and how much exercise is needed after eating certain amounts of food.

# those suffering from anorexia pursue a very low 'ideal' weight.

# the weight loss may cause hormonal disturbances and women with anorexia nervosa may stop having periods.

There are also other kinds of eating disorders (though those seem to be the two most common kinds), and here's a site that talks about them: http://www.Edap.Org/p.Asp?Webpage_id=294

so I hope that helps, and if your friend does have an eating disorder, be sure he knows that it can do some serious damage! And the dizziness thing isnt good. The stomach hurting thing isnt good either.

Good luck!
