Sleep Trouble
Posted: 05-11-06 20:42pm

I find getting to sleep a real struggle. Nearly every night I takes me at least 2 hours to fall asleep. Even when I go to bed really late and I mean really late, we are talking staying up for 24 hours, I still cant get to sleep immediately, even though i'm tired. The bad thing is once I do get to sleep I find waking up a real hassle. The problem is when I first wake up I can fall straight back to bed very easily, why is this?

I have the same problem. I am 15 and I have been struggling with the sleep situation. I have one or two things that might help you sleep better. 1.)before you want to go to sleep drink some green tea. Personally it doesn't work for me but, it might for you. 2.)take benydryal an hour before you want to go to bed. It really works for me. It also will help any sinus problems you might have that you don't know of. Hope this helps.

Love,
arisha

Hello kensf2,

do you just cant get into sleep or you have any other problems like emotional or physical discomfort; more particularly when it is from internalized anxiety or anger, emotional problems environmental factors like noise, light, or extreme temperatures (hot or cold) that interfere with sleep. Extreme temperatures can disrupt one's sleeping patterns. Noise and bright lights can have the same effect too. These problems also affect our sleep.

Some helpful tips.

Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol late in the day. Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants and can keep you from falling asleep. Alcohol can cause waking in the night and interferes with sleep quality.

Make your sleeping place comfortable. Be sure that it is dark, quiet, and not too warm or too cold. If light is a problem, try a sleeping mask. If noise is a problem, try earplugs, a fan, or a "white noise" machine to cover up the sounds.
