Sugar Alcohol

>i think stevia is okay, i've heard health freaks talking about supposed negative effects of sugar alcohol, but there isn't sufficient research on that issue.

Stan, does this mean sugar alcohol is probably okay to eat?
Low carb energy bars all have sugar alcohol in it, and I was wondering if it could be a safe snack for hypoglycemics.

Thank you always for your insights and advice!

I think so, I have to look into though and don't have enough time right now. The best out there, supposedly, is something called xylitol, you can buy it in bags and such.

I don't crave any sweets or anything, but it's good to know that
there is some sweetner that I can use. Thank you, stan!

I've found a good article on the internet on sugar alcohols.

Http://www.Mendosa.Com/netca rbs.Htm

looks like different sugar alcohols have different gi values.

Probably, I would say xylitol is the lowest, I think it's only a gi score of 4.

the abole article can't be opened with the upper case h in htm, so please try it with the lower case h in htm.

According to this article, xylitol has gi of 14, and there are a couple of sugar alchols with gi of zero.

Guess I was wrong then, I was just guessing mainly, though I can tell you the kind of xylitol I once used claimed to have a gi score of 7. I guess it depends on brand.

I don't use it now, but when I want to add some flavor to meats or something I do, very sparingly. Here's the kind I get, and whole foods always has it, as well as most stores like it.
