Q: Did our 9-month old Child experience an Epileptic Seizure?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 11th, 2006
I am not sure that my 9 month old baby has epilepsy. My wife is epileptic but is free of seizures for the last couple of years (400 mg of carpamezipine daily).
Yesterday when we were giving our baby a bath my wife was soaping her vagina when suddenly she developed something like a seizure (hiccup like sounds and general loss of strength and a faraway look)
i am not sure whether this is actually epileptic, but this has got us very very worried.

It is hard to say if the baby experienced an epileptic seizure, or not. You can bring your child to a pediatric physician for an EEG-examination. Idiopathic epilepsy is genetically conditioned, so it is possible for your child to inherit epilepsy from her mother.
