First My Ears, Then My Nose, Then My Throat...please Help!
Posted: 05-10-06 19:44pm

Alright, I first experienced about 5 years ago...My right ear feeling blocked for a while, probably a few months. So I ended up going to the doctors, and I actually had a bunch of wax build up, I mean a bunch of it in both ears. So I had that resolved. And my ears felt better for a while, pretty close to normal.

Soon after maybe a month or two. I noticed my right ear was feeling clogged, then my left ear started to feel clogged. I went back to the doctors and had them both cleaned out again, but this time there wasn't really anything in there, no build up.

I ended up having an mri done and nothing out of the ordinary showed up. Then my regular doctor recommended I go see a tmj specialist. So I did...I guess they could be symptoms of tmj that i'm having but apparently that is not actually the problem.

So now, I noticed that my nose was feeling blocked all the time just like my ears, but my ears have always been the main problem. Although maybe it was my nose from before to, but I just didn't really notice it because my ears have over-shadowed it.

About last year mid-summer in '05 everything drained apparently for no reason for a whole two days all through the back of my throat! It was amazing and I thought I was finally cured, but unfortunately it didn't last :( everything clogged back up after the two days even worse! I should also point out that I have symptoms of post nasal drip as well.

Around this time I have also noticed that my whole head has started to get alot of pressure, esspecially my forehead, and even the back of my head! Everywhere there is pressure! It feels like I have fluid everywhere.

I ended up going to the doctors again for my ears, and this time they said everything looked 'normal' again....Yea maybe on the outside but there is def. Something going on inside :(.

He recommended I go to an allergy specialist so I did. It turns out that the test came out positive for a few things mainly dairy. I have been staying away from it, but still no results!

So now I notice recently that my throat has been getting tight! Now seriously my whole head feel like its going to explode all the time. I'm not getting any relief, i'm so fed up I don't know what to do :(

i finally go to the last doctor again, and I say to him I just don't know what to do anymore, I don't know what it could be. Just give me some anti-biotics incase this whole time its been a sinus infection. So he gave me the strongest thing there is. That was on friday, and now it is wed. Of next week. I had to stop taking the anti-biotics because it did not give me any results and it made me extremely sick, I have been a zombie at work today.

On a plus note, I did have a hearing test done at the last visit and apparently the doctor was shocked that I have "excellent hearing" despite all of this..Just imagine what my hearing would be like if I could have my head back to normal and I work as an audio professional. Everyday is like torture for me!

Please someone help! There has to be an answer! Why would I experience the draining like nothing happened before? I know that it can happen again, I just don't know how to make it, and for good this time! :x :(

Oh and I also want to add that sometimes when I hold my ear lobes closed really tight to my head I kind of get a warm, moist sensation in my ears for a few seconds almost like I did when everything was draining, but it doesn't actually pop.

I'm always very fatigued and my mucus is always extremely thick, and nothing gets past through my nose. If I sneeze it never comes out of my nose, always through my mouth.

I am no Dr. But have you thought about asking your Dr. To refer you to an ear, nose and throat specialist(ent)? They may have an answer for you.
I too have post nasal drip problem at times and wasprescribed claritin at one time. Also if you take a lot of showers, you can get kind of like an ear fungus because it is dark and moist, now remember, I am not a dr but someone told me one time to take a syringe and mix up some vinegar and rubbing alchohol and squirt it in your ear with the syringe and it helped me as I used to swim alot too and get swimmers ear.
The best to you!

Try ocean nasal spray or any saline nasal spray and try to take a bath with salt, just use like kitchen salt, fill up your bath with hot/warm water and pour lots of salt. Relax in the bathtub for at least 1/2 to 1 hour.

I have some of the symptoms that you are talking about and only salt helps!. Have you ever gone to the ocean and feel any better? I always feel great when I go.

I also have problem with diary products, milk or ice cream are killers for me, I drink soy milk. Just try to drink more water more fruits and less junk food and less coffee and keep bathing with salt whenever you get a chance like 2 times a week and I hope that works for you.

Alright, yea, I have tried everything! I think I might have found out what the problem is though...I went to a new dentist because I had to have some cavities filled, so I also needed to have some x-rays done. It turns out that I have three impacted wisdom teeth! Damn I wonder if that has anything to do with what I have been dealing with for about 7 years!?!?? It angers me off that after seeing all of these different doctors not one of them even mentioned that it might be caused by impacted wisdom teeth!?!?!!? what

it's really going to suck having to have these three removed for a little while, but this has to be the source of my problem. I'm so ready to be over with this ear problem most of all, so I scheduled an appoitment asap... I don't care what happens to me anymore I just want this ear thing gone! Rip these f***ers out of me already!!!!!!!!!!!

Anthonyw,

this sounds exactly like what I have been feeling for the past 9 months. Started off with balance problems, bad sinus infection and pressure all around my head. Ever since I have been having congestion in my nose and post-nasal drip. I have tons of white mucus in my nose and throat. My ears feel full all the time and I feel like I have liquid inside them. I have just had another sinus infection.

Docs and ent's don't seem to treat me right. They just prescibe me some nasal sprays and say to live with it. It's getting really frustrating. I'm just hoping this thing goes away.

How are you doing? Found anything helpful yet?

Chris

Hey chris, I just had my three remaining wisdom teeth removed today. I chose general anesthetic like the last time and both experiences were a walk in the park. When I regained conciousness, it was actually a pleasent experience, as if I didn't even know they started it already! I firmly believe that, this was the cause of all the problems. I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth on the top and one was left on the bottom, left side. I had my bottom right removed 5 years ago already.

The left side of my face is all swelled up right now, and it's just the bottom left side that hurts, even though the top two were removed as well, I can't feel any pain up there, but I think it may be because those sockets were numb for years because of the impacted teeth, which was causing the ear and sinus problems. I think the bottom tooth was causing the throat problems.

Anyway, like I said my face is swelled up and it hurts on my jaw, but I can already feel an improvment with my ears and nose!

Def. See a dentist and have some xrays done specifically for impacted wisdom teeth if any of you are having similar problems!

I don't know how likely it is that I will return to the forum, so if anyone has questions from my experience contact me via anthony@djanthonywebster.Com.

Sinus Inflammation
Posted: 12-02-07 15:18pm

One solution which works for me is to take Advil or Advil Cold & Sinus. The problem for me seems to be the sinuses get inflammed which causes pain.

I was just searching to see if there is a better solution because I don't feel comfortable taking Advil for three weeks straight.

If you know of anything tell me.
