Some women (me included) have what is called a floating ovulation & so we can ovulate at any time of the month, others ovulate at the same time each month but that may not be mid cycle as it is for most women.

So if you either have a floating ovulation or ovulate at the time of month when you happened to have unprotected sex, then yes, you can get pregnant.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by when your body is ready.

If you have had a miscarriage, major surgery of any type, suffered trauma then it's best to give your body time to heal, 6 to 12 months in general.

On the other hand if you mean how do you know when it's "the right time" in your life to fall pregnant; there's no easy answer to that, sometimes we just fal pregnant & have to "deal", other times we compromise because our partner id older & doesn't want to be too old to enjoy the kids, other times we want but don't get pregnant.

In general though, try to give your body time to heal from any ill-health or trauma, try & take folic acid & calcium (both needed by the baby & you during pregnancy, the folic acid/folate is especially important in the first weeks of the pregnancy) & try to be as healthy (without becoming a health freak!!) as reasonable.

Also if you're in a relationship (as opposed to choosing to go it alone) you really should talk to the father to be about what he wants & when.

All that should help your body be ready for what's about to hit it!!
