I'm worried that after 2 to 3 years of constant stress i'll be permanantly damaged and won't ever to be able to recover.

For the past year and a quarter i've never felt well and had constant palpitations and all of the other symptoms of severe stress and anxiety including pain down my left arm.

My heart has been pounding constantly nonstop...Will I ever be able to return to normal, or is it too late?

My anxiety is still going on because I keep feeling regret that I should of done something earlier and now it's gone too far to change.

Is it possible for permenant damage to occur?

I'm 16 years old.

Although there is no hard evidence that emotional distress can increase the risk of heart problems, I am confident that it can increase your risk of cardiovascular problems much sooner. Chronic stress is known to cause high blood pressure and high blood pressure increases the risk of cardiovascular problems.

And that risk can be modified. You just have to stop worrying about your heart all the time. If you find it impossible, antidepressants or tranquilizers can help.

You also need to get into biofeedback and yoga and meditation.
