Mysterious, Numerous spots overnight
I'm a teenager and I don't get exposed alot in the sun this past few days but few spots appear on me.

I'm 17 and I have 3 brown spots in my left elbow. 1 dot-like brown spot in my pinky finger and another 1 on my right cheek. Like those who posted in here, it doesn't itch nor cause me pain or whatever. The elbow spots just appeared yesterday. Meanwhile I just noticed this pinky finger spot and cheek spot today. Can someone tell me how to cure it? Or how I probably got these? Thank you! <3

Sudden Appearance of Bronze Spots -
8 bronze spots appeared the underside of my right hand overnight (7 hours). They are not any particular shape or size. I am 23, drink more water than the average person, takes vitamins (C, Flaxseed, Euchinacea & Goldenseal), do not drink or smoke, and have not had contact with any sort of chemical in the last few weeks. I have been having sinus/allergy/laringyitis issues for the last 9 days and have increased my amount of sleep, intake of water, vitamins, coffee, herbal tea, & local honey. Any input would be appreciated.

Overnight dark spots explained?
I also had these brown spots that appeared on the back of my hand overnight. Some people posted that it could be lime/mango/ or orange and I remember peeling off the orange skin with my right hand yesterday and I may not have washed properly before going outdoors. I did some research and I think the condition is called Phytophotodermatitis. I did use my right hand to peel the orange, and later sprayed body mist(which contains high levels of alcohol)on the back of my hand. Then I sat on the front passenger seat of the car under a heated sun. I guess it explains it. I was so scared it could be age spots or signs of skin cancer. I also have a funny suspicion that my sunscreen contributed to the darkening of my previous sun spots on my face. I read that retinyl palmitate in the sunscreen could accelerate lesions and permanently damage the skin when it's exposed to the sun.

weird spots
I have the same thing! Woke up 2 nights ago with some red spots on my chest, from the size of a pencil eraser and smaller. They dont hurt, itch or anything & aren't popping out. Anyways they faded and are now a light brown color..
This morning i noticed i have more on my hand, but they are tinier & way more from my thumb to my wrist.. in those 2 bunches one of the "spots" look like a tiny burn.

I havent ate anything strange or put any creams on that could cause a reaction. Im quite relieved that im not the only one, now if we could just have some answers. BTW im 23 female, active lifestyle. I know its NOT sun sopts because i live in hawaii & i never got sun spots, plus im hardly in the direct sunlight.

Liver spots?
I am 27 and have the same spots on my thumb and index fingers. So far most leads point to "liver spots". I immediately stopped drinking alcohol and have been on a Marcobiotic and liver detox. I feel amazing, so much energy! The spots seem to sort of be fading and they are not spreading. I plan to stay on this "detox" for a few months. The liver is one of the most over worked organs and vital to the proper digestion of food.

Treat your liver right! Goodluck everyone!

Same happened to me. I'm 30. I went on a hiking trip while on my period. I was taking ibuprofen (which makes you more sensitive to sunlight). I was also handling a lot of lemons that week. On my plane ride home i notice that my forearms on both sides were completely streaked with age spot looking freckles. some were reddish brown, but the majority were brown like freckles. Not raised, not itchy, just colored. It's been three weeks and they seemed to have faded a little, but it could just be that i'm accustomed to them. Hopefully they disappear soon.

Tonight under/around the bottom of my butt cheek I have these dark, tiny, spots. My hubby tried to wipe then scratch them off. Nada. He said they are dark brownish/reddish, like a dried scab. They are in a cluster. I'm freaked! I'm 36.

Brown spots on my left hand.
I've been having these brown spots as well, i notived them two days ago, and today i noticed them even more, they are on top of my hand (not my palm) between my index finger and my thumb, im concerned. I'm scared that it might be skin cancer!:/ I have been in the sun a lot lately, im only 18 years old, female, im in the school band and we practice everyday afterschool from 4:30-6:30. I've been thinking about putting sunscreen on, maybe thats the reason im getting the brown spots? I hope theyre not permanent because they dont look pretty.

I have not handled limes, yet I have brown spots...
After reading this, I am relieved that I am not the only individual that had developed this odd condition. For the past two weeks, I have noticed dime-sized brown spots on my left knuckle.

My only input to the conversation is that I have not handled limes, mangoes, or any related citrus food.

I am planning to consult with a dermatologist soon, and I'll keep you posted.

Mysterious skin-pigmentation spreading from ulnar to index..?
I am 22 years old and work in a bar in which I do handle limes and lemons. However I am also a medical student and so am around doctors and dermatologists most days yet none, even my own doctor, has been able to explain my unusual skin pigmentation.
I have, like many of you, small freckle-like brown spots which spread from my ulner wrist joint to my index finger in an almost perfect line. There are approximately 20-30 dots. They appeared overnight and where a dull pink in the first few days then faded to a dirty-brown. I did not change my diet, drinking habits or washing posdwer etc, so I'm really baffled. My doctor done blood work but the pathology came back clean. I'm pushing to meet with more specialised dermatologists so hopefully we should know soon.

Very strange indeedy!

About three weeks ago similar spots appeared on my left wrist. they look like henna that is fading away. They aren't fading though. They don't itch and have not changed in any way since they appeared. I also developed a cough a few days after they appeared and I saw that there is some link between melanoma and a chronic cough! I have been coughing for two weeks! Getting very worried. Any idea what's going on? I'm 25, female, live in the Caribbean. (so I'm used to the sun.)

Multiple Brown Spots - Dermatologist Visit
I posted here on Aug. 19, 2010 about numerous brown spots on my chest, abdomen, back, legs, arms, and face that appeared overnight. I had been in the sun and was taking the antibiotic Keflex.

I went to a very good dermatologist and he said that these were "eruptive pigmented nevi" and he was not sure what caused them to appear so suddenly.

Also, these brown spots have not gone away or faded over the past 2.5 years. They still appear just the same.

I was taking Melatonin as a sleep aid during the week prior to the sudden development, overnight, of 20-30 brown spots on my arms, shoulders, chest, abdomen, back, legs, and face.

I am very curious whether anyone else with these brown spots was taking Melatonin around the time that the spots appeared. If you took Melatonin, please respond to this forum with the information and details of your case.

It appears that this forum may be the only hope for people to find the common cause for these spots.

Trying to help
.dermatologysocal.com
"Hyper pigmentation is the over production of the natural pigment in your skin. Some of us have hyper pigmentation from an early age that may have a genetic component. For others, it is a result of hormone shifts, the use of birth control pills as in the case of melasma or a pregnancy mask during and after pregnancy.

For most of us, though, splotchy skin and brown markings on the face, chest, arms and hands are a direct result of sun exposure."

I'm not seeing any concrete explanations which is sad because this thread is so old and so many have the same issue. ^^ This is what I found that sorta makes sense for how my week has been. My body and birth control have been at odds for a couple weeks now, and the splotches showed up 3-4 days ago, across both hands but mostly on the right. I've had them before but didn't think anything of it and they went away. This time I was more curious. The only other odd thing I did this week was weeding/clearing the garden. No sun exposure though, as it's still transitioning from winter to spring here ... though I am 21, maybe my liver is overworked from the birthcontrol ups and downs along with the hormonal shifts ... I am not a doctor, but this is what I think it is for my case

I also have these, on my thumbs on the side pointing to my index finger. Anyone else get hayfever? A lot of you said after going out side a lot, or in the summer, and doctors have said after an allergic reaction, so i'm thinking it could be from hay fever?
