| i have heard many stories not to get one that they slow labor down, it will give you back pain afterwards and then I heard that you wont feel a thing and nothing happens what will be the side effects of the epidural?
Do you have to be 3 to 4 centimeters dilated to get one or can you get one when you start having contractions at the hospital? Also can I take a shower if I do get an epidural? After baby born |

| i didn't have one only because I wanted to feel and experience the pain of child birth. I don't take it for granted the pain that women must go through when birthing a child...
But everyone's pain tolerance is waaay different...What might be too intense for you might be a walk in the park for me ya know?? If you want you should see how long you can go without one... Then make the decision when you feel the time is right... Sarah |

And it's not a big deal when it wears off. The morning after I had my first baby, the nurses kept checking if I wanted anything for pain- one of them checked my chart and freaked right out because I hadn't had anything- not so much as a paracetemol tablet. I said- oh, no, you see, I had an epidural, I don't think it's worn off yet, so i'm not in any pain. She actually laughed at me! Apparently, as soon as they "unplug" it, it's over. It doesn't hang around in your system. Who knew? So post-partem, no problem. By the waybabymajic0506 - packed gauze ? Stitched up? How many stitches did you end up with? Yeeeeooochh, shudder. |
