Can It Not Work? Please Help!!
Posted: 05-09-06 07:47am

Hello all. I had a medicated abortion 9 weeks ago, but I think it may not have worked. I still hav all the symptoms and stuff. Plus ive got really fat in my tummy in the last 2-3weeks. Ishould b 4 months-if I am pregnant. And I havent been overeating. Eating healthily actually. Urinating alot, sneezing alot. The lot basically. What I was wondering is....Can the abortion sometimes not wrk, and u still be pregnant afterwards. I mean I felt and experienced everything you feel. But I still have a feeling that I might be pregnant. Or im just wishing? I dont know...But I do need to know any statistics about an abortion not working. Ive always been rubbish at inserting tampax...And well those who know what happens during an abortion will know about the tampax job. Thanks all. Much love. Cherry88
p.S id like to say sorry in advance if I hurt anyones feelings as it is a touchy subject.

Hi, medication abortion is best done before you are 9 weeks pregnant, or about 2 months pregnant..
Here in the us they do not do medication abortions past 9 weeks because the risks of excess bleeding, and the greater liklihood of it not even working.

Please take a pregnancy test! You can get pregnant right after an abortion, so if you are not on birth cotnrol you very well could've become pregnant after your abortion.

Did you not go to a follow up appointment so the doctor could do an examination and make sure your abortion was complete? I reccommend going back to an abortion clinic, especially the one you went to to have an exam.

Hi I was exactly 9 weeks pregnant, and coudnt go to the follow up cuz I had to move country!! Sounds real messed up I kno and im only 18! Im definitely not pregnant again after the abortion because I refused to touch my boyfriend at the fear of getting pregnant again, and having to go through it all again. I think my mind and body are playing tricks on me. Someone told me that not everyone has a period after, but I had a real real light spotting period, now this next one hasnt come.So my mum is gettin me a pregnancy test today to put my mind at rest. So i'll keep u posted thanks so much for your reply it really helped.

if you weren't able to keep your scheduled follow up appointment, my best advice would be to go to a doctor as soon as you possibly can. They will need to examine you to ensure that all tissue has been expelled from your body. If some has remained, it could make you very sick or cause a bad infection. Please go to the doctor and let us know what's going on.
Peace and love,
jenn

If you somehow were still pregnant it is likely deformed and has problems, those medications do without a doubt cause serious deformity.

And im not good with hospital, got real annoyed bein the centre of attention and loads of doctors poking me n that, was that a dumb idea to leave?Wat u fink? It couldnt have been that bad cuz they didnt give me an ultrasound or anything to check.

It's okay.. I work at aboriton clinics here in the us.. In north carolina....

I only want to give women honest info, even if it is not necessarily what they want to hear.
