Hi.
About 12 months ago I was snorkling while on holiday, I went under the water about 5 feet deep and had this serious pain in the right side of my head and the pressure was so bad it felt like my eye was going to explode. It seemed to go away for a while, but then I started to get slight headaches in the right side and behind my right eye and it always happened when I drunk alcohol. After 9 months I went to my gp and he told me that I might have cluster headaches and he would like to do some blood tests. However I thought that it may be due to my diet and regularly drinking alcohol. I changed my diet and cut right back on the drink and I didn't seem to suffer that bad. Last friday night while going to bed I felt a bit dizzy and the following morning and early afternoon I still felt light headed. In the afternoon I did drink alcohol and the next day I had a bad hangover. In the past when I have drunk quite heavily I have often still felt drunk the next day, so due to this I didn't think any more about it. It has now been two full days and I still feel bad. The symptoms I have is slight pressure in my head and a slight pain, lightheadedness and I sometimes feel a bit sick. I think that I maight be coming down with the flu or have a head cold. Should I give it a couple more days to see if it clears or go to my gp.
Thanks.

It seems the use of certain psychoactive drugs (including alcohol) tends to cause/aggravate certain problems, like pressure in your head.

I fooled around with add medications (dextroamphetamine) to focus while doing complex work (although the buzz got the better of me). I became addicted and started using improper amounts for up to 2 weeks at a time, with extreme sleep deprivation, as a result.

After a few more runs like that, eventually I developed sudden pressure in my head. I was foolish enough to keep using the add medication, despite this, and now after quitting, I still have the pressure in my head every day. For two years straight i've had this every day, every minute of the day!

I notice any time I use any psychoactive drug, the pressure in my head gets worse. I think a lot of it has to do with frequent constriction/dilation of blood vessels, which affects your sinuses (or so I think.)

i'm only now beginning to think that sinus pressure causes this sensation of blockage/fullness in my head.

In your case, I would go to the doctor to see if you have a sinus issue, which may be causing lightheadness (i get this too), and also the pressure.

For 2 years i've had this problem, perhaps now I have discovered that sinus cloggage/inflammation is the root cause?

And of course many drugs (psychoactives especially) aggravate the condition.

Let me know if i've been of any help, and keep in touch!
