My husband is 40. He was told several months ago that he has too high of sugar. At the time it was normally 150-ish give or take. The doctor put him on 2 kinds of pills. His sugar lowered, now he is on 1 pill.

Anyway......... He is 'crashing' as he calls it several times a day and when he checks his sugar, its always around 57, 66, in that area. Which is driving him crazy that it gets that low and he gets all shakey and so forth until he eats. He seems to have to eat several time a day so it doesn't go so low.

Well, I suggested cutting the pill in half, but its so small, its just about impossible. So, until he gets in to see the doctor about this..... Does anyone have this experience and how do you manage your diet without crashing so much??? It's a rollercoaster!!!

Why doesnt he take some good insulin? This will help him lots... Especially if he is dieting!

If that doesnt work...You should consult a good dietician to prepare him a diet program.

Did the doctor suggest carrying around some hard candy to suck on such as life savers or something to that effect? I use to care for a 5 year old who had to have insulin shots and in his little tote where his tester and things were was always some kind of hard candy for those just in case times where he may be low we could give him a couple of those to raise his blood sugar. Ask your doctor and see if this could be helpful so that your husband does not feel like he is eating all the time.

I am not vegan or never have been but today I was looking for weight lose plans and it said online that the vegan diet works 6times better than any doctor diet...

Re: Dale 123
How does one quantify "6 times better than any doctor diet?" Claims like this I would regard as pure bunk. I have a doctor friend who lost 50 lbs on the Dean Ornish diet (near vegan and definitely a "doctor diet"), I've seen other friends lose a lot of weight on the Atkins diet, another doctor diet and very non-vegetarian. The key is really some kind of restriction of calories. My diet BTW is vegetarian plus fish as my only meat source.
