Ok, I just started taking birth control a week ago. How long does it take for birth control to take effect? ( to decrease the chances of getting pregnant )

You must take the pill for 7 full days for it to become effective.

Now if you take it the first day you start your period you are protected immediately. Enjoy safe sex!

i thought it took one full month of consistent use for your body to become aclimated to the pill. That's what my doctor told me when I first started using ortho tricyclen-lo. If that was wrong, please let me know because I have been telling people to continue using the condom or another barrier method with spermicide for up to one full month.
Peace,
jenn
