I had a fall down stairs when I was a
teenager (so long ago I try not to think
about it). I sort of remember it hurting
for a long time. I think I fractured my
coccyx. Since that time I have had
chronic lower back pain. I believe the
coccyx provides a counter-ballance to the
lumbar vertabrae. Without the balancing
effect, I think my spine is out of
alignment. Is the above correct?
If so, what can I do about it. The pain
seems to be gradually getting worse as I
get older.

??? Dont' know about the counterbalance
thing or not, but the coccyx has openings
that on some people nerves pass through.
When you get that low there are
differences on a person to person basis.
You should just go to the doc and have
some imaging studies done to see what the
problems are, they may or may not be
related to falling down the stairs. Good
luck.
