Hello, I had my gallbladder removed 4/12/06. The first 2 days in the hospital were the pits. I was in so much pain (rated 10) was givin morphine every 2 hours with little relief. The nurse kept telling me it was gas, but never once asked if I wanted maloxx, when I told my sister about my pain she said to ask the nurse for some maloxx, within 1/2 an hour or so my pain level droped from a 10 to 6. Now dont you think the nurse or doctor should have told me that taking some sort of gas reliever would help. After all they deal with this on a daily basis. This was my first surgery so I didnt know what to expect. The morning after my surgery, to my shock! I was brought eggs and bacon!! I couldnt believe it. I told them that I could not eat that, it will make me sick. The nurse took it away and brought me cream of wheat. Dont you think they should know that I can no longer eat that kind of stuff. I have been living on brown rice made w/ chicken broth. I dont seem to have a problem with the broth.(its not fat free) oatmeal w/ honey natural juices ,tea, steamed veggies, fresh fruit, things that are very easy to digest.I ate sushie the the day with out a problem. It had four slivers of avocado. I am able to eat rolled dates which totally confuses me because I know they are full of fat. I am thankfull for that, they can be my candy. I also eat a lot of potatoes (red ,sweet all kinds) yesterday I baked a cake for my sons b-day and I ate about 5 bites and in about 1 hour my stomach started to bubble, I had to run to the bathroom, for about three hours I was in so much pain, I had to take two codiene I was up till 1 am, tossing and turning. So now I know how it feels to eat the wrong stuff. I wont be eating anything I know I shouldnt anymore it is so not worth the pain!!!!

Extremely eHealthy
I have had my gallbladder out over 20 years and their are still a lot of things I cannot eat. Even though you just had your gallbladder out , I caannot believe, they would be bringing you stuff like that at 1st, they started me off on liguid diet aand went from there as tolerated but like I say. Mine was done quite a long time ago! I am no Dr., you might be having other problems too, I still use gaviscon and tumse-x.
There are a lot of times that they cannot give you extra meds in the hospital without a drs order. How is your paain level now as it does take time to get over surgery but if your pain levelis still real high, I would call the drs office and let them know, also, if you take pain meds, I have learned to eat something with them even if it is a couple of soda crackers as they can hurt my stomach also and they can also plug you up.
Good luck too you!

hoosiergurl: When did you have surgery?
50 lbs is a LOT of weight!

Are you in any pain or is it just that nothing tastes good to you?

Have you talked to a doctor about this?

I had my gallbladder removed/can I eat normal soon?
I lost 25 pounds in one before I had my gallbladder removed. I had to be on a low fat diet, which basically consited of fresh fruit/veggies, whole graing, limit chick/turkey. They didn't want to remove it right away, because I was in my 1st trimester of my 2nd pregnancy, but I was haveing frequent attakcs all of the time and it would be after I had something that i was aloud to eat. The week before they took it out I was sick with vomiting and diahherea. I just had it removed last night July 13, 09 and they told me that i only have to be on a low fat diet for 3-4 weeks. I told them that is fine as long as it is not for they rest of my life and I said because I use to love fruit/veggies/yougurt but I am absolutely starting to hate them b/c that is all I able to eat and looking at it makes me want to vomit. But, now I am starting to do research to see if I can come off the low fat diet after 4 weeks, and the way things look some people are fine eating regular foods and some aren't i don't now what to do. Mind you i am pregnant, i wouldn't like to eat an in andout burger and have a coke every once in a while.

I had my gallbladder removed 11/16/09 and the doctor told me I could eat whatever I wanted and to go ahead and eat anything and see how it goes. The first few weeks after surgery I was my normal constipated self only going once a week if I was lucky then all of a sudden it all changed now anything I eat or even drink (even a glass of water) and I'm running to the bathroom it's horrible I'm afraid to eat or drink when I'm out and someday I won't eat all day at work cause I'm scared I will have an accident I don't know what to do. My poop is completely liquid (diarrhea) and it alway sinks to the bottom and is either yellow or green in color if anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Try taking over the counter measures for diarrhea. also include bile salts in your diet. take them prior to eating. they will help you.
