Right Ribcage Pain After Gallbladder Surgery
Posted: 05-04-06 13:28pm

I am interested to know if anyone can help with this one: I had my gallbladder removed in dec of 2005 following months of testing - ultrasounds, cts, hidta scans, all were normal, but Dr. Said removal of the gb would probably help, that sometimes the inflammation did not show up on the tests - so, had it out, and he said that it was in fact inflamed - "crystals" on the inside. Ok, after surgery (laproscopic), was hoping for full recovery, when approx. 3 days later, I began throwing up. Following a most unpleasant episode, I was in such pain in my right side that I could not lie down. The pain continued for four days, worsening to the point that I was in tears and could only sit upright with ice on my ribcage - my husband took me to the er thinking maybe something had gone wrong from the surgery. Five days in the hospital later, after being on morphine for the pain and having all kinds of tests run again, the drs. Concluded that I must be having "musculoskeletal pain." ok, I could buy that perhaps the vomiting episode pulled a muscle in my ribcage - but it's been five months now, and I still have pain. It is mostly around the area of my waist, lower rigcage, sometimes around my lower back on the ribs, sometimes around to the front of them - my ribs are too sore to touch, almost feel as though they themselves are inflamed. Sometimes the pain seems more "outside" like in the muscles, sometimes more "inside" - hard to describe and hard to pinpoint. It hurts to lie down - wake up every morning just aching from sleeping. Also can't lift or pull anything, including my toddler. I'm so tired of hurting!! Any ideas?? Thanks...
