Do they work? Any advice on someone who has used them will be nice.

I have a friend who has been using one for 5 years, and still has not conceived. I tried using one and got a headache! I consulted my doctor about this and using a basal thermometer, and he said throw it in the garbage. He said not to stress too much about trying to conceive, and to just have intercourse about every other day or so around the time when you would be ovulating. It's bound to work eventually. Goodluck!

There is a wonderful book that you can read concerning your fertility, and it also teaches you how to chart to either avoid or succeed. It's called taking care of your fertility by toni welcher. It is also a really good source on how your body truly works.

Many doctors do not agree with this method, so you may really have to search for one who will listen to you.

Good luck!

My doctor is the one who gave it to me. I was just curious cause it seems like something that wouldn't really work but I will try it. It tells me to take my temp before I get out of bed in the morning so I will try it for the first time tomorrow thanks for your opinions guys.

I don't understand why you have to chart all this crap. I mean, why not just use the ovulation calculator and have lots o' sex when you're ovulating. Seems like a lot less of a headache.

not all women ovulate at the same time each time. By charting, you can determine quite accuratly when you do ovulate therefore, you can know when to have sex and possibly achieve pregnancy. Your body sends out many signals when you are ovulating, and by charting you can know how your body reacts when that times comes. Charting takes your body temperature, cervical mucous, and cervical position all into affect.

Many women have used charting to either avoid pregnancy or achieve it, and the only thing you actually invest in is the thermometer.
