Q: Abcessed Tooth

A couple days ago I started having a simple ear ache but then I woke up the next morning and my lower left jaw is swallen really bad. My gums aren't swallen at all but I still think I have an abcess and the pain is so annoying. My fiance just had major surgery so it isn't in the budget for me to see the dentist right now, but I was wondering if any one would know of a way to get the swelling down. The swelling feels like a knot and it goes under my jaw line as well. I am miserable and don't know what to do :( someone please help!!

Ice and anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) are best, but you really, really need to get to a dentist now. Tell the dentist you have little money at this time and could he please accept payments. You probably need an antibiotic if it is an abcessed tooth.

Please get it checked out right away. Call now.

Thank you ... I have tried ice and it just isn't doing it. I have contacted a few dentist and none that I have talked to accept any type of payments. I guess i'll keep doing the ice thing for the remainder of the day.

You really need to see a dentist if it is an abscess. Not trying to scare you but l recently had to have emergency surgery to remove my tooth and drain an abscess that was partially blocking my windpipe (l am on steroids though which can make it worse)

Abcessed Tooth
I am suffering from root canal trouble ( abscess on the nerve etc ) have been for the last 12 months so I know some of wat your going through. I would get to a dr ( at least) and go on antibiotics, they wont fix the problem completely but they will help. I am getting my tooth out , asap ( I know wat it s like wen u cant afford a dentist). The tmj symptoms have gotten worse since this started ( duh me just workin that out) .
Heres hoping havin the tooth out at least helps.
Its impossible to function wen your face etc hurts.. I have found ibuprofen works the best , ( be careful with it though its not a long term thing).
