Hey

My friends tell me I am not fat and I think it just makes me feel bad. My friend that is kind of thicker than everyone else was like I don't care if I am fat or not and I am proud of the way I look. I want to be like that but the only way I will be is if I lose weight but I don't want to be on a diet not being able to eat my favorite candy for ever some one help...

I also go through that very often. People tell me that i'm very slim in fact, but it's like I don't believe them - even when I know them - because I fear that they are just being nice. Then I look around to the other girls and it's like I can only see thin people...

I have a book on eating disorders, and I remember it saying that we are always looking through different colored glasses. When you look at other people or in the mirror at yourself, the image you see depends on what "color" glasses you are wearing. I kinda related it to being what "mood" you are in.

I don't know if this would work with anyone else or not, but last year when I was at my ultimate worst physically and mentally, I had a friend who I always thought was so tall and skinny and perfectly built. I always wanted to have her body, and when I would tell people that, they would just laugh and say I already did. I never believed them, so my psychologist told me to talk with the girl and tell her a little bit about my situation if I felt comfortable enough, and see if she would agree to take a few pictures with me. Thankfully she was a good enough friend that I could be truthful with her and she was nice enough and understanding enough to help me. We took them standing frontwards, sideways, and backwards, both with jeans and regular t-shirts on and then with swimsuits on. When I looked at them later I actually got to see what everyone was talking about. I was actually thinner than her! It just helped me to see what everyone else sees from their point of view. Kinda puts that whole "body dysmorphic disorder" into perspective.

About not being able to eat your favorite candy, etc.....Just remember that you can eat anything in moderation. Of course eating a whole candy bar everyday might not be the best thing to do, but eating a little bit of chocolate a few times a week, heck even a small amount everyday, won't kill you or cause you to gain any extra weight. Now if I could only heed my own advice all the time..... =)

hi again, girl. I also relate it a little with the mood i'm in, because there days when I feel really down and bad and I haven't even woken up.. But I feel i'm fat and scared of putting weight or body volume on everyday...
Do you think that book you mentioned is good? What book is that?
I may try to do something as your therapist suggested you, but I don't really think that will work the same way, because i'm not that thin.. :\ but it would help to clear things...

Thanks again **
