Ok, I need advice on the supps im starting to take.

One is called glucobalance and im to take 3 a day which means im getting 500mcg of chromium a day (max level shud be 200mcg) and 1500mcg of biotin (shud have max 300mcg!)

this is what my nutritionist has recommended but im concerned becoz I dont want anything happening to my liver or anything. Ive also heard that too much chromium can cause all sorts of probs. So why is he telling me to take this dose!?

Im also to take these fish oil capsules which come in gel capsules made from gelatin and glycerin......Any thoughts on this?

Then the last two im taking are supposed to reduce my cortisol levels (apparently they are very high). Its phosserine complex which contains phospholipids and phosphatidylserine. And adhs which contains all sorts of weird herbs and things ive never heard of.

Im just worried that these supplements will have adverse affects. Even though my nutritionist says they are to make me better! I just dont know who to trust u know? I mean surely my cortisol is high becuase of my hypoglycemia? Argh! I dont understand!

What supplements does everyone here take, if any?

Jenny,

yes, I take quite a few supplements. Chromium is a very important one, and also biotin. I wouldn't worry about the dosage, especially since you probably have a deficiency. I think prescription medication is much more dangerous than the natural supplements.

Fish oil supplements are really good because they have omega 3's. Herbs can help a lot too and I feel that only by taking them for a long time could possibly have a bad effect and some can help with the hypoglycemia.

Relax and hopefully soon you'll be feeling better.

Biotin reduces blood sugar levels. Im taking a supplement called glucobalance which has high amounts of chromium and biotin. I take 3 tablets a day which has a total of 500mcg of chromium and 1500mcg of biotin. Diana, how many mcg are you takign of your supplements. Can u list the supplements u take and how much? Have they helped u and how loong have u taken them for?

Hi jenny,

let's see...I take about: 900 mcg of biotin
500 mcg chromium
2 high potency muliple vitamin and mineral tablets
(has all kinds of vitamins, minerals etc)
1200 mg calcium
500 mg magnesium
120 mg ginko biloba (herb)
4 fish oil capsules
2 acidophilus tablets (for digestion)
100 mg b complex

i've taken most of them for quite and while but have increased the biotin and chromium since i've had a problem with blood sugar (about 3-4 months). I really think they have helped a lot but also the diet is very important. The b vitamins are very good too, especially for the nerves.

Hope this helps

Man, what a soup! I personally believe brewer's yeast is all you need. That may be a bit much there, could be doing more harm than good.

More harm than good? Thats not what u told me when I told u what I was taking!

Everyone is different. Diana do u find it has helped you? Did u do this yourself or were u recommended by someone to take these amounts? I am also taking same amounts of chromium and biotin as u.

Hi,

i do read a large amount of health information and this is what was recommended. I've done a lot of research on hypoglycemia and I feel these supplements have help immensely. I've discussed this with my doctor and she is very supportive.

I used to take brewers yeast and I just bought some to take again. It is really packed with nutrition. I make a smoothie everyday with strawberries, yogurt, brewers yeast, whey powder and water. Really gives you a boost!

Jenny, that's because you didn't list them, you just said I take several. I don't know, it depends on the person, but reliance on that many supplements doesn't seem like a good idea to me, I personally believe you can get everything you need from the proper diet.
