Scleroderma Progressing Too Fast
Posted: 05-03-06 00:03am

My friend was diagnosed with scleroderma last year. She was seen to have interstitial lung disease. She was put under medication, which she followed diligently. Despite this, her interstitial lung disease has worsened a great deal and so has her general health. She in fact seemed better than when she had no medication at all. Is that normal?

I have CREST Scleroderma, I have absolutly loads of different symptoms. I also have to have constant tests to moniter symtoms that may develop.
Does your friend have diffuse Scleroderma (which is more progressive than CREST)? I have to have lung tests every year just incase my lungs get affected.
I notice it's almost a year ago since you wrote the above post, how is your frind now?
Scleroderma can go in a kind of remmission & then flare up. I am currently going through a flare up at the moment but it is mainly my bowels & stomach that are playing up.
I hope your friend has all the answers & is improving, it sounds like she has a lot of supposrt in you which is one of the most important things to a sufferer.

Thank you for your reply. My friend's sufferings have come to an end. She was finally diagnosed with lung cancer and succumbed to the disease. The progression of the disease was really fast and she did not have to suffer much.

I hope I have not upset you. I did not mean to. However, I was so surprised at getting a reply after so long that I simply needed to reply. There is a huge void that she has left for us and unfortunately nothing can be done.

She was unfortunate. However, I came to know of many other patients who do a lot better.
