Hi, I had lupus since I was 12 and I used medicaid for doctor visits and medicines. Now i'm 19, no medicaid, no money, my doctor move to a different country, the new doctor won't refill my medcines because he is not my doctor and I have to see him to be able to get my medicines. As I said I have no money and no insurance and it'll cost my at least $400 up front to see this new doctor. I haven't have my medicines for over 2 months, now my spine hurt, shoulders hurt, and all my joints hurt. I don't know what to do. If any of you know a way to help me, please reply to this message. I'm really scary right now because I already been through the hardship when I was 12 and with good doctor and medicine for 7 years I feel like a normal person, I really don't want to go through all of the suffering again. Please help me. Thanks.

You have several options.

1) relax. I know it is easier said than done, but stress can trigger a flare!

2) contact your doctor's office and calmly explain to your physician's nurse or the physician. See what options they can offer to help you pay for the visit.

3) contact your state government. Evey state can help, however; every state has different programs.

4) if you cannot afford your prescriptions, then I can give you numbers to pharmaceutical companies. If you qualify, they will help you get your prescriptions at a reduced price!

5) are you in school? Or do you work? Either one of these venues can offer you help!

Thanks for your advices I already did number 2 and 3, but their options are useless, however I did find a website to buy my medicines online w/o prescription. I can afford my medicines because it cost less than $70 and I think that is what i'm gonna do. Again, thanks for your advices. Smile

I don't think I helped much, but you are welcome.

One more thing...Try contacting your state's insurance commission. They may be able to help you learn the rules (for your state) on insurance, obtaining it and keeping costs low.

Just another idea,
