I feel like i'm getting the run around from doctors so I was hoping someone would help me!
5 years ago I was taken to the er with sever ruq pain and the er gave me a gi cocktail with numbing meds and sent me on my way. I followed up with my pcp and she diagnosed me with an ulcer and acid reflux without running any tests what so ever - put my on prilosec and that was it. I took the prilosec for about 2 years then my health insurance changed and couldn't afford it anymore. The pain was on and off for awhile then it started again so I bought some otc acid reducers and it helped alittle but I was still in pain. I always felt like I had gas so I got off the acid reducers and started living on gas-x which seemed to help to a certain point. I then went to a different doctor. He then ran blood tests, ultra sound, hida scan (june 05) with cck, ivp (frequent urination) and all tests came back fine - or so I thought and he diagnosed me with ibs . At the begining of april 2006 I had the same ruq pain but alot worse. I went to the doctors again (same office but different doctor) and he said with my symptoms that he really thought it was my gallbladder and then tells me that my last hida scan (june 05) came back with a ejection fraction of 16% which is low. I had no idea it was low last year because my doc told me everything came back normal. So now my doc sent me for another ultrasound, hida, upper gi with small bowel and everything came back fine except for the hida scan which is now a 15% ejection fraction. My doc is now sending me to a surgeon which is scheduled for tomorrow. My doctor asked my why I stopped coming to the doctor if I was still having the pain. I get so frustrated when they can't find anything wrong so I stop going and just deal with the pain. Also, I felt like the docs didn't believe me anymore.
My question is when the doctor saw the 16% why wouldn't he send me to a surgeon then? Especially considering my symptoms. Also, what will the surgeon base her decision on whether or not she'll remove my gallbladder? Could my gallbaldder be causing my acid reflux?
Thank you! :d
