I am a freshmen at college at started drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana occassionally since I got here. I always anjoyed the drinking but never really got high until I smoke with my roomate in december. We went out and smoked underneath a tree and before I even stopped smoking I started completely freaking out. I had no idea what was happening but I felt like I had no control over my body and that maybe I was stuck in a dream or a movie. It was horrible. My vision became very blurry and all of my skin seemed to burn. I felt like I was in an unrealy world. A few minutes later I was able to bring myself back to reality, I would keep going back into this fear of an unreal world on and off for maybe an hour before my roomate put me to bed. I was fine when I woke up a few hours later and was able to laugh about this incident with my friends. I smoked two or three times after this and I kept getting the buring sensation in me skin but I was able to understand that is was the drugs doing that. However, the last time I smoked, I was already drunk off of rum, and still got the burning skin thing. When I woke up the next morning, I was fine but I few hours later the symptoms came back. That was a little more than two months ago and I still feel like I am experiencing the effects of the weed. I still have a little bit of a burning sensation in the skin and I feel like am still having phycological effects. I know this probably sounds really bad and, well, it is, but I am able to go to classes and function completely normally. Its just like I have this liitle distractions. Sorry this is so long. Im just really worried. Do you think I should seek pshyciatric help or do you think these symtops should go away on their own?

Are you sure it was weed that your friend gave you and not something else? Could the weed have been laced with something else? There are a number of illegal drugs out there like lsd that can cause similar symptoms that last for years afterwards.

Ask your doctor.

Worried06- you should stop smoking because this could be a side effect. Trust me quit while you can. Yes the symptoms u get will go away in time. Because it is mostly psychological. When I used to smoke it I was totally fine, I went to a new dealer and when I started smoking this new stuff I totally freaked out, thought the whole was against me, thought I was an experiment and the world wasnt real, and thought everyone was trying to kill me!!! Yes this is totally messed up I know. Some people I told thought it was laced. It probibly was. It was some sorta super-skunk when I thought it was just normal ol' ganga!! My new years resolution was to not do drugs anymore, and I still havent, stay away from drugs. Reality will soon hit and u will be back to your normal self. You not crazy and dont need to see a psyciatrist. Give it time and you will be your normal ol' self again. I am and reality feels good!Lol

I think your allergic. don't smoke anymore. The mental effects you are feeling is called paranoia. YES it is normal for marijuana to do that the first few times you smoke. even hallucinations may occur. The burning skin thing is a warning sign. that is not normal for weed. I been smokin almost 20 years. I think your allergic bud. next time you smoke you could get hives, have your throat swell, and go into shock. The weed and you do not agree.
