Q: Yellow Skin Around Eyes

Hi,
i'm an 18 year old girl who is completely healthy, as far as I know. Recently I have noticed a yellow discoloration around my eyes. It is extremely prominent in photos but it is also there in person. I have very pale skin and I rarely have skin problems, so i'm a bit confused as to what this could be. It looks sickly. Is there anything I can do to make this go away or could this be part or something bigger?
Thanks!

Sounds like you are jaundiced. Jaundice can be caused by an overworked or damaged liver. Are you a drinker? In any case you should go to a doctor so they can do some tests, and get you healthy again.

I Have Same Problem
I'm 35 and very health, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs ...

My doctor believes the yellow skin around my eyes is due to allergies.

I'm seeing an allergist next month.

First rule out liver problems.
Second, have you been eating a lot of any foods that have a high beta-carrotine content- ie. carrots, squash, spinach etc.?

You may find that a cell salt deficiency is the culprit. Read up on nat sulph, and other cell salt deficiencies.

Smile God loves you!
Good luck!

It sounds like you have jaundice, and this is something that needs to be checked out. You really need to get your mother to take you to the doctor just to be safe.

Response to Turning Yellow
If you are turning yellow you have to get to a Doctor and have it checked out. Go see a Doctor and get some simple tests done to rule out serious problems.
In-case you think it is nothing, you might be wrong and the cost on that mistake you don't want to pay- get to a Doctor!

Good Luck!

The yellowing (Jaundice) around the eyes could be due to a colon or pancreas problem or even biliary colic however usually you would be having abdominal pain and other symptoms. Jaundice is also a symptom of viral hepatitis.

Yellow Skin Around Eyes
Not sure if you're still monitoring this thread, but thought I'd post a reply just in case.

I also have yellow skin around my eyes, mostly visible in photos, but enough in person that people will often ask about it.

Several people have mentioned jaundice and liver problems. Because jaundice would usually effect the whites of your eyes, and other areas of skin, it is highly unlikely that it is a liver issue. That said, you should definitely get a quick liver function test to rule this out, just in case.

One of the other common causes could be thyroid imbalance, mostly commonly hypothyroid (or low function). Thyroid hormone assists in processing beta carotene into Vitamin A, so the yellow could be beta carotene buildup. This might also cause some acne-like bumps on the back of your arms. Other symptom of low thyroid function are weight gain, excessive fatigue (though keep in mind a teenage girl needs 10-14 hours of sleep a night!!), and many others. This is diagnosed through a simple blood test.

Other things to check out are allergies, though traditional allergy testing doesn't give very specific results. If you have ever had hives, or have digestive issues, I would also check into testing your candida levels.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas to check out!

Yellow skin around the eyes
I've been having yellow skin around the eyes for years. It is noticeable in the photos and worst in person. It is always there. I am healthy, no smoking, no drinking, no drugs. Had liver test and it was negative. But most of the doctors I asked they all tell me they don't know why my skin is like that. Weird right!!! Not even the doctor knows what is wrong. I was told by one of the doctors to give my self a chemical peel arround the eyes. I don't know if that is something safe. But I haven't done it. But if it works then I would go for it and do it.
