I have been smoking pot for years now. I quit for 10 months last year then started smoking again, but not as often. A few months after I started smoking again I started getting anxiety attacks or what I think to be anxiety attacks when I would smoke. Sometimes I wouldn't even be high, but still get an attack. When I really noticed it being a problem was when I was at my best friends house. I went to use the bathroom but when I sat on the toilet my whole body got tingly then the tingly sensation turned into pain. It started at my feet and went up. I panicked and lifted my feet off the ground and brought my knees to my head. I didn;t even go to the bathroom I jumped up and ran out of the bathroom.. My heart was racing and my chest hurt. That was the worst attacked I had. Another bad attack was when I was home with my boyfriend.. I was sitting on the couch after smoking a hour before and I got really paranoid that my bf didnt love me anymore then my chest started hurting like someone was sitting on it. I am so afraid of getting these attacks when I smoke that I have quit now. But ive also been experiencing other problems related to depression more frequintly. I want advice on what I should do or what ther problem is.

I think the answer is pretty obvious.........Stop smoking up. I remember being close to blacking out in a bathroom once when I smoked up. It just doesn't work for some people so let it go.

It's not even a great buzz anyway.

I dont get high anymore when I smoke..I have a really high tollerance. I can do everything fine. I dont get stupid I just panick attacks. Sometimes I get them when I dont smoke but its not the same feeling.. I just get really stressed out and depressed when I think of something that I have to do that will be really hard or take up alot of my time. The only thing that helps is to just not thik about it. Then I wind up forgetting about the things I have to do or just wont do them. I have quit smoking now but now im experiencing sympotoms when I sleep.. When I sleep ill think of something I have to do the next day and ill get stressed my bf also said I stop breathing for periods of 10 to 15 secods. Ive noticed everytime he brought it up to me I was thinking about something. Its lie when I think I dont breath.

if you watch anyone sleep, they stop breathing once in awhile for seconds. We do that while we're awake and don't notice it........It's nothing out of the ordinary.

If it was something serious, you wouldn't be alive. Your body knows what to do even when you don't pay attention to it. Try and make your heart stop beating.........You can't.

When you were a baby, you didn't worry about how you breathed but somehow made it this far. Don't worry about it.

The person that posted above is telling the truth, when you feel an anxiety attack comming on, just think about being somewhere quiet and peaceful in your mind and breathe. I am no dr but I have them sometimes too and they just happen sometimes and it is sometimes difficult to control them, it could be from something that happened from the past that is coming out. I feel the best thing to do is to talk to a professional such as your dr a psychologist or a psychiatrist, I have also found that .E.M.D.R. Help. Nowadays with a lot of the maijuana they have it is cut with a lot of nasty chemicals such as meth and other chemicals which does not help which their was a sspecial on t.V about it saying that the pot in the 1960's was better for you that the pot is for you now and I am not saying pot is bad as it does help some people out with medical situations. You can also go to mental health and they can help you and no, please do not take me wrong, I am not trying to say that you are crazy, it is just that we all need a little help in our lives sometimes.
Good luck!
Keep us posted.

I never smoked pot, but I have had sever anxiety attacks. I really don't think smoking pot can cause that. Maybe it could, like I said I never smoked. But for me having those anxiety attacks were because of thinking of death. It started when my grandmother died. They got so bad, that everytime I had one, I went to the er, because I thought I was dying. They wanted to put me on medicine, I never did. I'm not the type to take pills. I lived with this for about 8 years, and still never took any drugs. How I get through them when I do get them now, I do something to take my mind off it. Like write a letter to someone. I've learned to control them with out medicines. I have three kids, so taking my mind off it is easier now than then. Or talk to somebody. I used to call whoever I could. My family thought I was crazy. But having severe anxiety attacks, it's horrible.

I had my first panic attack when I was 11...........That was 24 years ago. At that time, doctors didn't even know what to call it and told my mom that I was just looking for attention.

To make a long story short, i've seen a lot that has to do with anxiety cures and the best thing any of you can do is buy a book called "hope and help for your nerves" by Dr. Claire weekes. She died a long time ago but I consider her a saint.

You don't have to meditate or need pills.........Just understand why you're feeling what you are.

Buy that book...........It saved my life and it's a shorcut to what you really need instead of looking online endlessly for useless crap that doesn't change the fear.

Trust me

You are not crazy when you have these and I bet your family feels ths same way, concerned, yes but talking to people does help, writing thing things down helps, I do that a lot especially with my pain but keeping a journal helps but I have learned by talking to people or writing it down gets it out of your system instead of letting it build up.
Their is a lot of people talking about this .E.F.T. Also.
Good luck to all of you and if you ever need someone to talk to , I have a big shoulder and a big heart.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.
I am trying to stay positive but their are times that their is a short fuse that must go. I have my animals and they are great therapy and no way would I hurt them or anyone.
