Q: Strained Deep Abdominal Muscle?

Hi everybody!

I've recently in the last 2 months really kicked it up a notch at the gym with my workouts andi love my results! In this time period, I started doing reverse lunges on a machine and I think I may have pulled/strained a deep abdominal muscle on my lower left side. Whenever I use the machine now I feel it and I also feel it if I do a regular forward lunge on the step. The "feeling" is a pulling feeling and it only bothers me if i'm doing a lunge. I went to the doc this week to check if it was a possible hernia, but he found nothing and said it was probably a slight pull/strain or even tear of a deep ab muscle and just to stop doing lunges for a while :( I haven't done them all week-

if anybody has any clue as to what deep ab muscle this could be, please reply!! It is driving me nuts and I can't really do anything for it but rest it and even applying heat doesn't seem to help since it is a deep muscle!

Thanks guys! :d

similar problem
hey, i had the exact same problem, except on my right side. the discomfort occurs when i'm doing lunges and at no other time; i can even do my regular ab routine. this problem is a reoccurrence of one which i had about a year ago. initially, i feared it could be a hernia, but it eventually went away, and hernias do not heal themselves. so, i guess the only answer is to quit doing lunges for awhile, and also desist with those exercises that target the lower abs.
