Q: Sex With Prostitute, Worried
asked by: KnightOfLight on April 28th, 2006

Hello,
i had sex with a prostitute. I used a condom and I did not ejaculate. Then I took of the condom, washed my penis (in the brothel), and put on my clothes.
Is there any chance that I may have been infected with any std like hiv? It was protected sex (i.E. I used a condom).
I think I am safe, but just for my peace of mind i'm asking this.
Thank you,
knightoflight.

No risk for hiv, but there are other stds that a condom won't protect and it only takes skin to skin contact.

Hello,
is there a big chance that I may have gotten skin-to-skin stds? This was the first time I had sex in my life (and I don't plan doing it again any time soon).
Will the skin std kill me, or is there cure?

Please be aware - condoms do not protect 100% from hiv. Less that 0.5% usually have manufacturing defects that may allow hiv transmission. Also, condoms have to be used carefully and properly for them to provide protection.

Skin to skin stds generally do not kill anyone. But diseases like herpes or chlamydia can cause a lot of trouble and are difficult or impossible to cure.

The best advice - do not have sex with multiple partners or prostitutes. Get married and be safe and alive.

Knightoflight, syphilis if left untreated and cause death. Always use condoms with plenty of water base lube for vaginal or anal sex. Enjoy and keep your sex life protected at all times.

The 'prostitute' paradox

if 'aids' ('hiv') was sexually transmitted, we should find it in sex-trade workers. The following references, including five studies published in prestigious scientific journals, demonstrate no sexual transmission.

In this study, the authors estimated overall and cause-specific mortality among prostitute women. They recorded information on prostitute women identified by police and health department surveillance in colorado springs, colorado, from 1967 to 1999. The authors assessed cause-specific mortality in this open cohort of 1,969 women [...]

violence and drug use were the predominant causes of death, both during periods of prostitution and during the whole observation period. [...] deaths from acquired immunodeficiency syndrome occurred exclusively among prostitutes who admitted to injecting drug use or were inferred to have a history of it.

Potterat j j et al. Mortality in a long-term open cohort of prostitute women. Am j epidemiol 2004;159:778-785.

Everyone just stop this - look back at the messages you've all written.

All looks rather childish doesn't it.

I've had it with this forum, you're all as mad as a box of frogs.

Jeez - you guys need to chill out!

This was all rather silly wasn't it... I know four year olds who seem to be more mature than you look from this thread, calm down and take a breath before you answer maybe you'll actually give someone some good advice and .H.E.L.P them - (general idea on health forums if you remember) and stop reverting to name calling!

In heterosexual intercourse, men are less likely to get hiv then women. That is because usually the fluids from the female do not make it inside the male's bloodstream. However, for females, the male's fluids often do penetrate the vagina, therefore, entering the bloodstream.

Hiv is quite rare in many countries, however, if it was in america, then it is more likely.
