I was with a different sex partner once and we used protection but shortly after that (i'd say about a week and a half, I developed a sore outside the vagina (near where I would shave in the crease) this went away and then I noticed itching and a discharge. I went to my doctor who tested me and came back with the diagnosis of yeast infection. I tried monistat myself at first before going to the doctor and she prescribed diflucan. This works as long as it stays in my system...After 3 days then its back to the usual. I have contacted her again, but she is out of the office for a week. I don't know what is going on...But it is getting very old! Any help?

Hello
I am from australia
at the chemist there is canesten cream for thrush.
And a cream called resolve
you have to use it unternally and externally all over the area to prevent it re occuring. You need to dissenfect all your sheets and underware. Prehaps if you dont have cotton underware get some.

Really? You have to disinfect sheets and underwear? Well, I guess that must explain a lot. Why the infection keeps on coming back. Everytime I put my undergarments on i'm reinfecting myself. However, mine can't be sexually transmitted because i'm a virgin. So, where else can you get a yeast infection?

Persian,
it's not about "where" you get a yeast infection, but "how" you get one....You can get a yeast infection from so many things...From not drying yourself well enough after you take a shower, and then put your underwear on and still being "damp down there"...You can get it from taking antibiotics, birth control, over douching, not cleaning enough or properly down there(poor hygiene)....I've personally never heard that you have to disinfect sheets and underwear...I mean of course you're not going to put on a pair of already worn dirty undies, or sleep on stained sheets, come on now! Laughing if you suspect you have a yeast infection, or if you think something's going on "down under" than it's imperative to get in to see ur dr to get proper treatment/medication!

Hi There
I am 42 with 5 kids , I had a hysterectomy, and the medication like antibiotics will cause it,, I have been on duflacan, its the same for 2 days I have relief, then blam! I have it again. I have a good relationship with my dr's nurses, they know when I call that I need yeast infection meds. I tell ya, I am gonna go and see the dr this week, and find out why, because, I have never had any female trouble until I had the hysterectomy.. I hope you feel better.

Yeast Infections
Just a heads up---if your sexually active with the same partner while you have a yeast infection you need to treat him as well otherwise (though guys don't have any problems with it) he can carrie the problem and keep giving it back to you. I personnally get a yeast infection anytime I decide to have a beer, so I just don't drink beer. There are many causes but many people forget that a guy can carry it.
