I am a 31 year old female recently put on paxil for depression. I do not enjoy the things I once did, mostly excersize and socializing, feel very unmotivated, dwell on mistakes i've made in the past and have a negative outlook for the future. I am seeing a therapist, i've been on 25 mg of paxil for 4 weeks and feel nothing except a lack of sexual drive...When does this kick in? Should I be on a higher dosage?
Thanx

Talk to ypur dr about how long before you start to feel better. If the answers aren't satisfactory, yuo have every right to ask (demand) a different medication or a different approach, perhaps another opinion.

i assume you mean that although you were depressed you didn't feel this bad before going on the paxil?? Am I right?? Many anti-depressnats do cause a lowering of sex drive, so you may have to accept that but only if the medications other affects in making you feel good are worth it!!!!

Had you been depressed for long? Do you think it's depression or stress, we know ourselves better than any dr & the treatment for the two is different????

I have heard paxil take a few months before you see any results.

Paxil
Sometimes it takes more than 4 weeks for medication to do the job. Give it more time. I am on 25 of paxil, but I have been on it for a different reason. I don't sleep well at night and paxil helps with the seratonin(sp). Wink
