Hi, i'm a 16 year old male and for the past 6 months i've been suffering from generalized itching. Its been getting worse as times been progressing. For example in december it would only effect me when I was exercising and I would only have itching on my head and neck. But now it often happens for no reason. However I have noticed some things that trigger it, when I eat hot (spicy) or sour foods (orange juice in particular), often when I exercise or get in a fuss about something and when I am nervous. But when I am nervous the itch doesn't last for long
the itch itself is rather much like my skin is burning and someone is pricking me with a needle on a certain part of my body, then this sensation almost seems to "spread" around my body. If I do scratch the itch the sensation just gets worse.
I've been to the dr and he's given me a antihistimin (sp?) and exzema cream (even though I don't have exzema) he gave me the cream without even running any tests. So i'm not really going to trust his judgement on this situation... Lol
i think that it might be due to hypersensitivity of the nerves in my skin? Or possibly over stimulation?
Any advice or a possible diagnosis would be great! As ide like to get this sorted out... Oh and by the way theres nothing on my skin (no spots or rashes) I do have some dry skin, but the itching effects areas where the skin is normal so I don't think its due to dry skin.
Thank you in advance
