Hi, i'm a 16 year old male and for the past 6 months i've been suffering from generalized itching. Its been getting worse as times been progressing. For example in december it would only effect me when I was exercising and I would only have itching on my head and neck. But now it often happens for no reason. However I have noticed some things that trigger it, when I eat hot (spicy) or sour foods (orange juice in particular), often when I exercise or get in a fuss about something and when I am nervous. But when I am nervous the itch doesn't last for long

the itch itself is rather much like my skin is burning and someone is pricking me with a needle on a certain part of my body, then this sensation almost seems to "spread" around my body. If I do scratch the itch the sensation just gets worse.

I've been to the dr and he's given me a antihistimin (sp?) and exzema cream (even though I don't have exzema) he gave me the cream without even running any tests. So i'm not really going to trust his judgement on this situation... Lol

i think that it might be due to hypersensitivity of the nerves in my skin? Or possibly over stimulation?

Any advice or a possible diagnosis would be great! As ide like to get this sorted out... Oh and by the way theres nothing on my skin (no spots or rashes) I do have some dry skin, but the itching effects areas where the skin is normal so I don't think its due to dry skin.

Thank you in advance

Cholinergic urticaria (heat induced hives)
try taking an antihistimine such as zirtec or neoclarytin also be carefull what you eat, try to stay away from those e numbers and also spicy foods. There is no 'magicial' cure for this condition and eventually it will just go away by itself. Avoiding heavy exersize and stress helps (i realise not always possible) correct me if im wrong but I bet you ge this condition before you begin to sweat, and it stops after you sweat?
Hope that helps
