Hey there everyone ! I just found out that I am 6wks pregnant. I am 22 married & right now my husband is at boot camp. I plan to have an abortion because right now we are not ready in all aspects. I was seriously considering a medical abortion @ my local clinic with mifeprex/mifepristone & made the appt for this friday. I'm very confused, my clinic said that most women do the surgery. I have done some research with the pill & not really liking what i'm hearing- (very heavy bleeding & severe abdominal pain for anywhere from 2wks to a month) & it takes longer to work. Now I cannot firmly decide btwn medical & surgical procedures. I'd like to hear your experiences with both.

Thanks!

Jen

from what i've learned, the surgical abortion is far quicker, and the pain doesn't last as long at all. Some women preferr the medical as opposed to the surgical because they feel more closure, seeing themselves bleed and going through that pain and process. They feel that falling asleep pregnant and waking up not pregnant left them a little lost; however the advantage is that it is much quicker than the medicinal route.

Alhtough medical abortion is more private, it is more painful and takes longer.. With surgical abortion you can have good drugs and be put to sleep so you feel no pain at all..And the aboriton is over with in 3-5 minutes...

I have had one medical when I was 18.. Hated it.. 2 surgicals after.... Much better.. No pain, very light bleeding..

Definitely the surgical, one of mine started out to be just a m/c then a medical after 31 hours in labor they sped the process up and this was years ago and I was given a light sedative because I chose to be awake, iknow that it might sound sick to you, bou I had my reasons. The second time is when they weregiven saline solutions and you are awake for them. I feel that you females are fortunate having surgical abortions so that you do not remember anything during the surgery that is. Thank gooddness their is a choice!
The best to all!

Thanks for your quick responses.. Like how painful is the surgical? I'm honestly leaning more towards that. Do u have to have someone drive you home?

Thanks
