Hi, I am new to this forum. I have suffered from tmj for as long as I can remember. I had a terrible overbite when I was 12 and had that corrected with braces and headgear but I think it's come back. I think since then everything has sort of been out of place. I got a mouth-guard to wear at night but it seems to make it easier for me to grind and clench, if that makes sense. 2 years ago I got a slu of strange symptoms i.E. Black dots, weird visual disturbances and numbness in my face and was sent for an mri. I didn't seem to notice the link to my jaw at the time, but do now. I have really bad visual problems with my tmj. My eyes are so tense and constantly feel like they are being pulled and if I move my eyes too quickly I hear a snapping sound from the back. I am always squinting to relief the pressure, which ironically makes my jaw worse. My eyes are really dry and i'm super sensitive to light (which makes my jaw worse too) the pressure and pulling is really bad in my sinus and jaw too, my jaw is totally swollen and I cannot relax it at all. I consciously try not to clench or grind in the day but I still can't relax. I went to 2 different chiroractors to try to help and the problems seems to have gotten worse. My dentist basically told me that if my night guard doesn't work, there's nothing I can do and I just need to relax and take yoga. I am at my wits end. My days are terrible wtih this constant pain and pressure. I get really nausested from the pressure and pulling in my eye and my face feels like a balloon. Any advise on what to do...Anything you've tried that provided some relief. I tried icing my face but that doesn't work. Heat doesn't seem to work. Thank you and sorry this is so long!
