Q: 19 Years Old And Delayed Puberty?

Hello all

i am 19 years old. When I was younger (don't remember exact age), I started to develop (grew armpit hair and pubic hair). My body seemed to stop growing though. I have not had any testicular growth nor penis growth - I still have a baby penis I guess you could call it. I can't grow much facial hair either. Laugh all you want but its so embarassing to have, so please refrain from jokes.

I have always been active - I was a swimmer all my childhood/teenage years, could that be a reason for delayed puberty?

Also, I have always had excess fat in my chest area, I remember one time when I was younger (i'd be guessing around 12 years old) I felt lumps under my nipples, they went away. I went to a doctor to see if I could get breast reduction, and I did, but it seems as if they are coming back (even though I am dieting very clean and working out very intensely).

I have never played around with hormones or anything of the sort.

Just glancing at pictures of my parents, they were both developed at a younger age than I am now, and I believe my brother is developed as well (he's actually 3 years younger than me).

I am very embarassed, will not shower in the nude in pubic places, am scared to be intimate with my girlfriend when there is light.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely don't want to alarm you, but there's actually a fairly simple explanation. Your testicles may not actually be testicles. In fact, they may be ovaries, which would explain the excess fat around your chest and lack of penile growth. You see, sometimes, chromosomes don't work as they're supposed to. Sometimes, men and women are left with sexual organs of both sexes. There are things you can do such as hormonal supplements or penile implants if you're self-conscious. Now i'm not a doctor, and I know very little about this, but from what you've said, it seems relatively clear-cut. I'd say, see a specialist and get them to do a bio-opsy on your testicles and check estrogen levels in your body. Hormones can do crazy things.

Are you serious?

Wow I never even thought anything like that. I guess I should get it looked at then. How could I tell myself if they were testacles or ovaries? This couldn't just be a case of delayed puberty?

I can ejaculate, if that invalidates the possibility? I'm worried now

I really wouldnt jump to any conclusions at this stage. I know many a bloke who can't grow facial hair - it's nothing to be alarmed about. There are men who never succeed in growing facial hair. It's just an individual thing. However if you're 19 and your penis hasn't grown ever since you can remember...? It may be cause for concern. Doctors have seen more than you can possibly imagine, so don't be embarrassed about going. Anything you share is confidential, i'd say go see a doc, if for nothing else than to put your mind at ease.

Alternatively write a doctor question here?

I know nothing about the breast thing, I won't even pretend to! You're better asking someone professional. I wish you all the best!

You should go and see an endocrinologist. Maybe your hormones aren't working properly, or the glands that squirt them out, like your thyroid or something. You might find that the problems are easitly fixed by hormone injections or something like that.

Thanks guys

the ovaries thing scare the crap out of me. What would you guys think about me taking tribulus? It helps boost natural testosterone levels.
