Hydrocephalus

My twin grandsons turned 7 months jan. 4 . They were born june 4, 2003
6 weeks early with only minor problems. 3lb. 15oz.

They are thriving for the most part. I was concerned about one of them. He had a space between his big toe and second toe and a crease in his palms. I had heard this was a sign of downs. Their doctor is amazed at their progress though. Today they weighed in at 14.5 and 14.12 the doctor said they have now caught up with other babies their age. Motor skills are great and are up on hands and knees trying to crawl. Then he said he wanted to set up a test for one of them (the one I was afraid had downs. He said his head had grown a little too fast and was concerned about hydrochephalus. Can anyone out there tell me about this condition and can it turn into cerebral palsey?

Try going to a search engine like yahoo or google & type in a question like "what are the symptoms of hydrochephalus?" or "what conditions would cause a baby's head to grow too fast?" this might give some answers.

I wish I could be of more help & pray that all will be well.

Hello...My name is jennifer, 21 yr old mommy of 3 and insurance producer. My children are: mikey shawn, 4; zoe gabreyele, 3; and ghaleon alexzander, 23 1/2 mo...Ghaleon's b'day is on january 16th. My hubby's name is mike, 29...And we've been married for 4 1/2 yrs.

Now to get with your subject...I was born with hydrocepholus. My mom delivered me when she was 28 1/2 weeks preg and I was 2 lb 8 oz. I had my shunt put in when I was 3 wks old...They had to wait until I was stable. You don't have to worry about cerebral pausy...Or anything for that matter. Technology is amazing! I was supposed to be slow...And possibly never walk...And here I am! And that was 21 yrs ago...Just think of what they have now. My question is...Y r they just noticing it...Unless it is just a small rupture...But i'm not sure.

I'd love to keep up with you on this...My e'mail address is zombie_ lover@msn.Com.

Good luck and god bless,
