How Long Do They Last?

Must Read

What are the signs of acute or chronic kidney failure? Which ones are more serious than others? And when should you ask a doctor or go to the ER for help?...
I have had 2 kidney stones since arriving in singapore for work in february. The second one I have now had for 2 weeks. I had to go to hospital last week when the pain was so bad and they gave me various drugs (5 types) to take on onset of further pain.
I am now having an attack once or twice a day (12 hours or so in between), luckily the drugs work.
My question is how long will I have to keep going like this? The stone is 4.5mm in width and was first spotted about an inch down from my kidney in the uretha. This size normally goes through without pain but obviously my uretha can't be too big! I am due to go for another x-ray in 10 days time.
Does anyone know how long this will go on for?
Thank you very much and apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it on the forum.

I do not know how long they can last. My daughter was very ill on/off for about a month before she passed a stone. She had 2 stones by the time xrays were done, and we're pretty sure she passed some before that. I think depending on the size, and how much fluid intake you are doing it can be different for everyone. Make sure you follow up with your doctor. I know from my 10 yr old daughter going through this, you have to put your life on hold, not knowing from one day to the next, when you're going to get really ill from the kidney stones. Horrible thing to go through! My daughter is actually experiencing stomach pains again, and we are just waiting and watching to see if it is kidney stones again! Wait and see is all we can do for now. Good luck to you.....
