Last may I broke up with my gf and started
seeing this other woman(unknown status).
We had unprotected sex unprotected off and
on for about two months. Maybe 20 times
in total. Me and my girlfriend have
genital herpes. Since then I have been
having unprotected sex with my gf on a
regular basises. Recently in feb I got
sick with a fever and a cough and went to
the hospital. They did a cbc on on me and
chest x-rays. The doctor said everything
was fine with both, I did notice on the
cbc that my total lymphocte count was
slightly lower than normal. They did not
give me any medicine and since then I have
had a cough. I went back to the doctor in
march and they said I had broncithtius,
they gave me antibiotics. After 2 weeks
the cough went away but sometimes I feel
like I still want to cough but its rare
maybe once a day. Also I have minor chest
pains and pain in my side. I also was
told I have lymphadenopathy, I have had
this since highschool though. I remember
them wanting to do a biopsy when I was
younger but they never did. Recently I
have had more frequent herpes outbreaks (i
don't know if this is because I am worried
about hiv or what) but this worrying has
consummed a large amount of my time. Most
nights I find myself worried sick. Anyway
my gf tested negative in jan and march. I
am too scared to get tested and haven't
talked to anyone about this. Am I
worrying for no need? Also what could
cause the lymphadenopathy?

Hiv Posted: 04-21-06 10:51am
Having had unprotected intercourse with
someone of unknown status, it is advisable
to test.
There is no real way to diagnose hiv on
the basis of symptoms. Good luck with
your test, which is more likely to be
negative than not, given that your
unprotected sex was with only one person,
and they themselves are much more likely
to be negative than positive.
The most important thing - stop having
unprotected sex with people of unknown
status. If you continue, you may not
dodge the hiv bullet for long. That is a
warning from the world of fact.

Test Is Better Than Worry Posted: 04-25-06 21:48pm
Worrying in fear is more dangerous than a
simple test to confirm the status. Since
your history shows high rish exposure not
only due to having sex with person with
unknown history, but also due to your
genitial herpes, it is better to go for a
test to know the status.
