I have a spot that falls into the "maligna melanoma " image category, however, due to limited dermatologists in my area I am trying to get information as to the stages of development and if I should really be concerned.

Yes, you should be concerned. Melanoma is the most serious of all skin cancers. I caught my melanoma early in 2002. I advise that you see a dermatologist as soon as you can. If he or she thinks it is suspicious, it will be excised and biopsied. I would suggest not waiting. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
