Pregnancy And Periods
Posted: 04-18-06 15:49pm

Hi,
i'm new to all this so please bear with me.
I have been actively trying to conceive for 6 months and need some advice please.
I had a very light and short period just over a week ago, for the past three days i've been feeling a bit queezy and vomited once on sunday morning.
I haven't yet taken a hpt, I just wanted to ask is it possible to have had a peiod and still be pregnant.

Thanks

Wha you might have experienced is implantation bleeding. It can seem like a light period. And if it was about a week or more ago the timing might be right for you to take a pregnancy test. Your symptoms could be that of pregnancy or simply pms. The two can be very similar. Good luck to you and let us know.

Wouldn't implantation bleeding be prior to a period and not at all like a period? People say it can be similar, but unless the implantation occurred right when your period was due and so light as so not need a tampon or a pad, I would consider it a light period and not implantation.

Period symptoms seem to mimic some pregnancy symptoms. Sore breasts, bloating, etc.

If you think it could be pregnancy, try taking a test with first morning urine when the hormones are at their highest level. Good luck and I hope you get pregnant soon!

My implantation stage was actually in place of my period. The morning of my period I was spotting brown... I figured it was from stress of having to evacuate from .Hurricane .Katrina. Through the duration of my "period" I experienced brown discharge only when I wiped. 2 days after the 7 of spotting, I passed a tiny clot. I thought it was my period so I got the tampons ready. When I went to potty later that evening, there was nothing. I waited about a week and tested. To my shock, it was positive. I took 3 more and they all came back positive.

I didn't believe it until I heard the hearbeat...And I was still in denial after that because I didn't "feel" preggy!!

Good .Luck and I hope you get the results you want!!!! Baby .Dust your way!!!

Implantation is when the newly fertilized embryo attaches itself into the wall of the uterus. When this happens (anywhere from 5 to 11 days past ovulation) the embryo starts to produce the pregnancy hormone hcg- pregnancy tests are designed to pick up on this hormone.

Sometimes when implantation occurs, a small amount of spotting can be seen. Not everyone gets implantation spotting and there is no way to tell if you will have it. Some women who have been pregnant more than once may not have it, or may only have it once. There is no pattern to implantation spotting.

The spotting can be red, brown, or pink. It can be watery and very minimal. Implantation spotting isn't heavy, nor is it a sign that something is wrong. Many women can mistake it for their period.

Most women notice it when they go to the bathroom because there is such minimal bleeding it might not be evident any other time.

Some women notice a small amount of cramping with implantation spotting, thus making it harder to decipher it from their periods. Cramping is common in the luteal phase, so it is not proof of implantation if you are cramping.

There are no rules to implantation spotting other than it not occurring before 5 days after ovulation because the egg has to have 4-5 days to prepare and travel down the fallopian tubes into your uterus

I never had cramping and it was only present when I wiped, so that's why I thought my period was on it's way. I just passed it off a stress delaying my period.

Good .Luck!

most women have implantation just before or right when their period would be due. I know women who have had what would seem like 'periods' during early pregnancy. Implantation is not always just spotting. You can still have a light to medium flow of blood and still have a healthy pregnancy.

The only way to know for sure...Is to take a hpt. If that's still negative and you still feel you are pregnant...See a doctor and have a blood test done.

Hi again,
still feeling queezy, have a scan booked at my local hospital for friday (part of ongoing fertility investigations), so i'm going to wait until then to find out whats going on.
I suffer from aps and know that any pregnancy will be hard work but worth it.
Thank you all for taking the time to reply to me.
