Teeth Whitening During Pregnancy?
Posted: 04-18-06 15:12pm

Okay so ive looked up online if this is safe and pretty much everything says they dont have enough research/evidence to know for sure...But the nurse at the doc. Office said it was fine. I was going to use crest whitestrips but I do not want to harm my baby...So I was wondering if anyone has whitened their teeth during pregnancy or what their doctors advised?

S.T.A.Y .A.W.A.Y!!!! My mom is a dental hygientist and it is highly recommended that you stay away from them while pregnant. I'm sure your ob/gyn has their own safety tips for what you can and cannot do..So it really all depends on them. But from a dental aspect it's better to just wait until you've had the baby. The strips are mainly hydrogen peroxide and flouride, but too much of anything in excess is bad for baby. If you want to do it maybe once a week, as opposed to twice a day, then that's an option. It's similar to tanning beds, once every two weeks is ok, but not every day. Same with hair coloring, once a month is fine, but again, not every 2weeks.

Anyways, if you want to do it, i'd suggest about once a week, which sucks because you won't get the full benefit of the strip. So i'd wait. I have the platinum strips patiently waiting for me in the refigerator!!

Good .Luck!!

they're just like a step above the regular kind...Have you ever seen the commercial where the girl's asking if she saw .Cher in concert alone or was she with .Sonny?? Lol...

I think they're just a little more potent....And expensive...But my moms gets em for free...We have a $250 incredibly toothbrush and I still use my regular one...It's the sonicare toothbrush that spits special toothpaste out of the head... She got that plus 4 boxes of the special toothpaste and 3 heads for free...The perks of being in the dentistry field!!!

I have .Veneers...(the porcelin that the celebs. Get.) instead of them being $1,000 a tooth, we got em for $500 and I got my front 4 teeth done...They're beautiful!!!

I was wondering about veneers...Are they just something you slip over your own teeth and then take them off at night?

naah. Your teeth have to be ground down a little and they cement them on. The only painful part was the shot right in the front of the mouth. I was doped up on .Nitrus and I still felt it like a motha!!! Lol....But they're beautiful!!!! People ask me how I got my teeth so damn white (i used to be a smoker) and I tell them it's veneers and they all want em...But they're waaay expensive...

If my mom wasn't in the field she's in...I wouldn't have gotten em...Tooo omuch money!!
