Q: I'm Pregnant, Can I Have My Wisdom Teeth Taken Out?

i need to have my wisdom teeth removed asap, but I am pregnant, a friend told me that the gas they use could kill me. Is this true? What meds should I take or not take after my teeth are removed? Is having my teeth removed now a good idea or should I wait?

I'm looking for an educated answer, thanks for your help and advice.

I really couldn't tell you the answer to this one. All I can say is that the dentist will know what they can and can not give you when you are pregnant. So just be sure to tell the dentist that you are pregnant and to be on the safe ask you obgyn also.

Your dentist would have to tell you...But I am pretty sure that if it is was a necessity to have them out before you deliver you would not be able to have gas or anasthesia, they would only be able to give you numbing shots in each tooth before they were removed...Which doesn't sound fun to me.

I could be wrong, but make sure you tell your oral surgeon before he does anything!

Good luck

Yes you can, but I know my dentist would not pull a tooth unless I had a letter from my ob saying they could but could not use any gas I was only allowed numbing shots with no pain meds afterward only tylonel, which sucked lol. But yes it is possible. If I were you I would talk to you ob and see what he/she says. Good luck

i am 8 mths pregant and had my top wisdom tooth pulled
it didnt hurt at all.. they numbed and kept having to numb it with a needle and i swear i didnt feel anything. At the most you feel pressure but not pain! they put like an oragel over the spot the put the numbing needle so you wont feel as much. ANd when they pulled it i didnt feel it. I had a student at a dental school working on me and he broke my tooth and had to go his teacher, and his teacher finished...i promised i didnt feel it at all. just relax..they are not going to torture you..lol..my wisdom tooth was NOT impacted though. it had a cavity and infection in it. and it extended into my sinus area but wasn't;t impacted..so maybe if you have that kind it may hurt a little..but it's not bad.. it's a LOT BETTER THAN THE PAIN YOU ARE IN RIGHT NOW,,,trust ME.. and i only can take tylenol too. it has been 2 days and i have no swelling or pain, just some discomfort..
