Hi everyone. As stated in the subject I will be having my first abortion at 10 weeks this friday. I am on a rollercoaster of emotions right now but my boyfriend (of 5 years) and I both agree that this is the right decision for us. We are both recent college grads, mid 20's and just starting life. We both want kids but didn't expect it to happen this soon. We have bounced back and forth between to keep or not to keep numerous times but in the end all roads lead to the fact that we are not financially ready. Last week I heard the heartbeat and that made me breakdown in tears and so I don't think i'll ever really know if I made the right decsion. I just need a shoulder. Anyone out there? Can anyone give me advice? How was the procedure? Did you feel anything? Emotions afterwards?

Thanks in advance.

It is your choice and yours only, if their is a lot of doubt thenyou really need to think about it and talk to a professional about it because it sounds like you are really unsure of the situation. You need to ask yourself if you will have the same feelings for this guy after tis medical procedure is done and ask him if he will have the same feelings for you because it is your choise more than it is his do to the fact that it is your body even though you both agree on it, their still seems like a lot of doubt. You might want to go or call the hospital and see if their is someone that you might talk to about this situation, I know that their are generally a social service person or a councelor, psychologist or a psychiatrist to talk to in most hospitals for this.
In the meantime, I wish you the best with your decision and being pro-choice , I do understand either way that you decide..
The best to you both!

Well I can't tell you about the procedure as I had a medical abortion, but what I can tell you is that whatever choice you make is the right one. You said you'll never know if you made the right choice... You can't look at it that way. Because you won't be able to change it there's no sense in beating yourself up over "what ifs". You will be fine, you have your boyfriend there with you. I know it's hard to hear the heartbeat stay strong but if you don't feel that you're ready then you are not ready because only you know, right? I know it's hard, i've been there, and it's probably the biggest decision you will ever make, be content with it. I know it sounds terrible to say that, but it's true. You're doing what you feel is best for you at the moment and there's no reason to feel guilt for that.
