First thing, Robokira, kirrabeachbum(especially), and winst.. you look perfectly normal at a glance. Basically I wouldn't worry about first looks when you meet people. There are asymmetries in most faces which create, in my opinion, attractive visual deviants from the norm. However on the average face those are nearly impossible to point out without measurements. On faces with above average asymmetries I still think it's hard for anyone to tell easily, let alone get wierded out by it. At worst you might seem unnattractive to a few people but I really really doubt anyone sees your asymmetry so quickly. I really can't emphasize how "normal" you look to me.
It's about time people began to bring this issue to the surface on the internet. I remember looking up my problem years ago and finding no one else like me.
I'm a 22 year old guy with an asymmetrical face, I almost can't remember not knowing about it. Even since my elementary school days I noticed my head seemed to tilt slightly to one side in photos. One day I came across the 2 mirror trick which clearly pointed out everything, my eyes, my ears, nose, brows, skull... it was so clearly off.. I could see where it stretched and compressed so easily. There's an endless bag of drama on that side of my life.( no pun intended *Sigh*) typical highly anti-social issues... etc.. photo days at school...
I'm sure my specific problem comes from my sleeping posture as a baby, causing my head to develop asymmetrically. It's good to know the technical names people use like plagiocephaly.. and variants.
You know what's cool though...
It's kind of funny how these things shape your life though, (personality, quirks, thoughts...) for example my problem helped me develop my artistic side in many ways... for one it probably magnified my obsession with beauty which pretty much turned me into a damn good artist, someone who appreciates the human form, the human face, symmetry and asymmetry. I've studied nearly every plane the face, the skull, scrutinized over every detail... just to understand how and why it all works.
Biani.. I once heard/read about how women tend to be more attracted to symmetry( in the context of attraction). I think for that reason, you can point it out so clearly on yourself and probably others. You simply can easily spot asymmetry and it probably bothers you a hell of a lot more than it should. Honestly, I can imagine your asymmetry being similar to Shannon Doherty, who I think looks gorgeous and I never even noticed her problem until someone pointed it out to me. ( you girls are so lucky with your long hair styles btw...) hmmm I really hope you don't think Doherty is ugly...
As for me...At this point I'm 100% sure anyone can tell I have an asymmetric face with the naked eye,the only question is the severity of it... *sigh which is enough to keep me fairly anti social. I worry that people may avoid me... so I normally avoid them... :/
Don't get me wrong I'm very upbeat, happy, spiritual, in decent shape, and I've learned to really not care most of the time...but some days suck more than others...
It just frustrating having to deal with normal " am I ugly issues" with this on top of everything!!
Anyway guys/girls, nice actually talking about this thing... I'd post a picture but my confidence is so low right now. In another post!!
