spent alot of hours there. the bad news is my face is indeed messed up. it wasnt because of a punch to the face, but a genetic defect or a bone problem as the doctor put it.

the good news is that its fixable. damn scary to experience, but its fixable. damn expensive too. so really the only thing keeping me from going on with the procedure is the lack of money.

for those of you posting pics. the way the doctor did it to me, was taking pics of your face from the front. then the same thing but doing your biggest smile. then take a pic from the left and right side straight on, so theres no angle, just the partial view of ur face.
that would be the best way for all of us to see if theres noticeable asymmetry.

if u think ur face just looks a bit off but arent sure. u can look in the mirror and be very still with ur facial expressions and use a small ruler and take ur measurements. from that u will know if ur face truly is asymmetrical.


anyways im back. for one i never got an email someone posted something new on here, so i figured no one bothered to post here again.
also ive been kinda busy helping out a friend (a youtube celebrity) with her online show. and just trying to get things in order. i predict ill start the procedure for the surgery when i turn 25. which means ill probably have the actual surgery when im 26. and thats when ill have my straight face, along with straight teeth.

I'm glad you found out how to fix it... how much is it? I know you said "expensive" but there are levels of "expensive", know what i mean? lol
And I'm curious... no slicing? how's that? they do cut you from inside the mouth, don't they?

I don't have much updates on my situation, after i went to the orthodontist one of them said she would call me back once she had my dental impressions ready, she hasn't. The other doctor who seems to know more about the jaw joint and such things told me that it did seem that my problem was skeletal as well. That the best thing would be to wear a splint to see if my bite can be de-programmed or something. He too said he would call me to set up a meeting, and hasn't. I haven't bothered to call them either. I think this weekend i'm going to go over there to at least get my x-rays and take them somewhere else. They're not looking too professional to me not keeping their word like that...

what are you planning on doing in terms of correction, if anything? I didn't catch that...

I basically wanted to know if anything could be done, hopefully braces or something not so complicated that involved surgery. My teeth are really out of whack, they are tilted in a way that makes me bite to my left, i was hoping that by straightening them my jaw wouldn't be so far to the left... but apparently i have condyle issues as well as skeletal, although this hasn't been properly explained to me, the doctor just told me over the phone that it looked like it was skeletal, that he recommended splint therapy first, and blah blah.

I know my younger brother was told once by the orthodontist that he should have his jaw broken so they could pull his lower jaw farther out, but I look at him and honestly it looks fine/great a la Cristiano Ronaldo. From the pics I saw of you on the forum I honestly didn't see anything wrong, and I have like an OCD with my face stuff, although it's 75% of the time something I don't think about..

Really? you don't see anything wrong? :S lol, i find that to be very good news, but... how can you not see it? haha, well, those pictures are kind of recent, they are from 2 months ago. Here are some from last week, i don't know if you can tell anything from them... one is very small and in the other one i'm not facing front, so i think it camouflages my whole "mouth to the left / nose to the right" issue.

Just checked out the photo and this is coming from someone like myself who definitely looks out for asymmetry in people and after you've told me you have it, and I've studied your photo for a few minutes. I would say I can only BARELY tell after looking at your photo for a couple minutes, and I mean barely, like on a scale of 1 to 100, maybe a 6. I think my face on a scale of 1 to 100 would be like a 10, with my deviated septum and slightly crooked jaw, which i think can be seen pretty good in my videos on youtube. That's why I asked! =)

Though your comment makes me feel less self concious, for that, thank you! but i really find it hard to believe that even after me telling you what's wrong with my face you couldn't see it and even think i'm less crooked than you! Cause really, my nose points right and my jaw points left, and my whole mouth is skewed...

he said theres no slicing or cutting involved. that when i awoke i would just have 1 stitch on each side of my cheek from the screw they put in during the surgery.
i was too nervous to ask exactly what is done. im guessing they will just rearrange and move everything and use the screws and plates to hold the bone in the new position.

but the doc did make it seem like it wasnt that big of a deal as far as what will be done. but well this guy is supposed to be the best of the best. so to him its probably a simple procedure. that the only reason why i need braces, is for the surgery. if my teeth were straight and well alligned, then there'd be no waiting period.
yeah i think u should go another specialist. cause from what i was told, there isnt much one can do because its not a teeth problem, its a bone problem. if ur bite was off because of ur teeth being crooked , then thats one thing. but it seems like ur jaw is just as skewed as mine. if u took a pic with a big smile and ur upper and lower teeth are slanted. then thatd mean u got the same problem as me.

in your happy new year vid, i too noticed that when u speak, ur lip looks slightly raised on one end. thats really the only thing i saw that was off. everything else seems quite normal.

When you say slightly raised? Like on a scale of 1 to 100, what would you rate it, 1 being perfectly symmetrical?

thats mighty big scale. i would say from 1 to 10. 1 being perfect. 10 being totally slanted. i would say its a 4.
cause i doubt anyone else would notice it. while for me, i now look at faces very closely to find any asymmetry. and at times its like yeah one end of ur lip rises.
in ur vids sometimes it seems like your chin might be slightlly deviated to one side. but then other times it seems like its normal and its just that one cheek is thinner on one side than the other.

though if i were u, i wouldn't obsess about it. cause whatever imperfection u got in ur face, is hardly noticeable. while mine on the other hand is obvious and is uncomfortable at times.

no 10 would be very crooked. 4 just means that its there, doesnt make u look ugly , not too noticeable, but its there.
you should be so lucky that its just ur lip when u talk, for me my lip is always slightly raised and when i smile, pshh forget it.
so i say u should rejoice that u have nowhere near as bad as the rest of us.
