Focus on the nose
Tell me if you see anything crooked/asymmetrical in the following pics. Tell me which ones you think are best.

ME TOO WITH A TWIST (pun intended)
As a young, tall, thin teen girl I always had people telling me I should be a model. So at 14 I got involved in that world and made money. I didn't realize my uneven features until I was 22ish doing a photoshoot and the photographer said he say two different people on each side of me. Stunned I went home and did what many of you did the dreaded 3 way (which I stay away from now...why torment myself). Sure enough I looked freakish. Since then I haven't worked became a mom and life went on. I was afraid to point the unevenness to anyone because why point out my flaws!! Deep down I was very insecure about it and a bit OCD (ok, I still am). After years of oddly deep sadness over it I broke down and mentioned it to my favorite family member. She assured me that when people look at me that is NOT what they see. Over the years I have noticed my grandpa has it, my cousin and my oldest child. It's so true when I look at them I DON"T see it. I have to constantly tell myself as I do the tilt head trick for photos and side profiles only or when someone is talking to me straight on that there is so much more to me than my face and what my family member said "people don't see that when they look at 'me'"!!

I have looked at everyones pictures some are more obvious than others, yes. Truly I can say that is not what I saw when I first looked at you all and that was my original intention to find flaws!! I am preaching to myself here as well it's hard to tell myself that sometimes as well.

On another front I recently went to a modeling agency in the nearest large city and sure enough I guess the head tilt fooled them cause they signed me. I just need to make some extra money for college cause mama got to pay for it somehow!!

One more thing, due to the 3 other people on my dad's side of the family including my oldest child I believe it's some genetic issue in my case.

can you post photo examples? A photo tells a thousand words.

What do you think of my assymetrical nose in the above photos?

Hey everyone!

zlist: I hope you can show us a pic of you, kirra is right, a photo tells a thousand words. I was reluctant to post pics, but it does help everyone to give you feedback and an honest opinion about if it's noticeable or not.

Kirra: About your pictures, on the one you're facing front, your chin looks SLIGHTLY to your right. I drew some lines on your face, and it does deviate a little. I had forgotten i had already pointed this out... all your last pictures have been 3/4 and such, and on those this chin thing isn't noticeable at all. So i guess i have to say the best pics are the ones in which you're not facing totally front... although you look good in that one too. As i said, the deviation is very very SLIGHT.

hey kirra

With your permission i'll upload your pic with the lines i tell you about, so you can see for yourself that what's actually a little off is your chin. I'll do this tomorrow... right now i have to go. But really, i see nothing wrong with your nose.

Hey Biani...
Yea go for it...yea I do think my left side is slightly lower than the right side (mouth, chin, and jaw)....posting photos for me is therapeutic...=)

There's got to be a way that I can be satisfied within myself with having a couple features that might be SLIGHTLY asymmetrical....

I should mention
the last two photos are what I consider my "bad side"...if we haven't already figured this out after a thousand and one postings lol...

I did fracture my jaw when I was 8 years old on my left side right near the temple area...maybe that plays a part?

hey! well, i can't access photobucket, which is where i upload my pics... so if you're interested in seeing those lines drawn on your face, tell me where i can send it to you. Or wait until i figure out what's wrong with my computer that makes the browser close everytime i open certain web-pages!! lol

So you fractured your jaw, huh? well maybe that's why your chin deviates a little. Do you know if that deviation is recent or if you had it since then? Do you have any pics facing front from when you were a lot younger? That could help to determine if it had something to do with the fracture or not. My guess is it does, but who knows?

hey
I never noticed any asymmetry in my nose til last November, and I first noticed a potential asymmetry with my face in 2003. Hmm, I'm sure I have photos when I was younger but they're at home and physically in photo albums. It might have something to do with it. Let's say it does. Is it even worth doing anything to correct it or what? I know my medical insurance would pay for fixing my nose (if I wanted it) b/c it was a deviated septum and that could present breathing problems.

And on a scale of 1 to 100, 1 being perfectly symmetrical and 100 being VERY ASKEW, what would you rank my nose and chin, honestly? ANd is my chin asymmetrical b/c it's off center or b/c one side is lower than the other?

i think you are fine, no worries at all, everyone is different, and everything you are pointing out like your chin and stuff, i can't even tell, and i'm sure no one else does....we all have self insecurities though, most of them only you will notice, and when you point them out to other people that leads them to start analyzing you harder and harder. i think you are handsome and there is no reason you shouldnt think so. : )

kirrabeach...
hey! well, i just e-mailed you your pic with all these lines... let me know what you think of it.
I really don't think you should do anything to correct it, it isn't noticeable!!! As Melachlydaye said, you do look handsome, and as i've mentioned before, you can only tell if you have a pic facing front and you take it and draw lines on your face. On a scale to 1 to 100, i would rate you an 8... You're not PERFECTLY symmetrical, but close enough to normal symmetry in people. And really, i just CAN'T find anything wrong with your nose!! and i am looking soooo hard to find what you're talking about when you say that it scrunches, and that from one side it looks bad, etc... i just DON'T see it!! Your nose looks perfectly fine to me.

About your chin, it just seems to be off center, i don't notice one side of your face being longer or shorter, it just looks a little to one side.

And sorry, i don't notice any substancial difference between the pics you're asking about. If you were to flip them i wouldn't be able to tell your right side from your left side.

hey
If you look at the very tip of my nose, it is slightly to my left. You can tell if you look at that little thing above the center of the mouth.

I'll go ahead and check my email when I'm out of class!

Jaw muscles
Does anyone ever see those people who seem to be clenching their jaw muscles all the time? It's fairly obvious that their muscles are moving. Brad Pitt does this I know...

Hi All!

Methos: about the girl thing... i do think if a very attractive girl likes you you SHOULD pick up on her signals... haha, never consider yourself not worthy. What i meant is to not purposely consider yourself TOO worthy, lol, like to dismiss anyone who is not as attractive as your last gf, not to mean that you shouldn't find the next one attractive in some way too.... well, i hope you get what i mean, lol. Sometimes i'm just bad at explaining.

Well, on a recent finding, i have been getting together with some friends... and i do make people laugh, haha, so i can't be THAT boring. lol. New people that i've met have really liked me and talked to me a lot, so that makes me feel a little better. Even though most are shocked that i don't drink or smoke, and that makes me look dull to them i guess. But i don't care about that. I am self conscious about if they're noticing that i'm all crooked or something though Sad

About the skinny thing... you would be surprised. There's tons of different tastes. Some of the girls like them chunky, others like them muscular, and others like them on the thinner side. It's like if all of us girls who don't look like a playboy playmate are doomed to have no one like us just cause we don't have the big boobs and booty, lol. Of course everyone drools over those kinds of girls, but they like other types too... i hope. lol. I think you're taking the right approach in this issue. Working out is great, so what if you still look thin? as long as you're not all weak. Plus, yeah, clothes help out a lot.

Mh... so when you bite down you look symmetrical? if that was my case i would be biting down ALL the time!!!
It is all so complicated, isn't it? I haven't gone back to the dentist yet, but i'm sure it's going to be something weird too. I asked a question to a dr. on an online site, and he told me that if indeed i have condylar hyperplasia, braces would most likely just leave me being a jaw cripple. Ugh, i don't know what i'm going to do!! I'm afraid of screwing up my face more... at least now i don't have big issues with my jaws, like locking or pain and stuff. Sometimes they feel tired like yours too, but not all the time.
Oh! and he told me that by the pictures (i attached some too) that it seems that there is something else wrong with me other than my jaw. I got curious about that 'slanted nose' thing, so i checked again. It DOES look more crooked than i was aware of. I don't know if recently it got more crooked, cause the last time i checked it looked ok enough. Maybe it's a degenerative disease that screws up your face little by little over time? Anyone know about a condition like this? :S

Well, let us know what the specialists say, ok?

Opposing: Thank you for your comment, you make me feel better about myself Smile

Sunshine: I guess it depends on what is causing your asymmetry to know if there's any way to fix it. We ourselves are trying to discover if our asymmetry is fixable someway. What's asymmetrical about yours?

yea i get ya haha.. to me i just dont really think about being in a relationship. or starting one. so i just dont really think about it at all really. but since we were talking about that area of stuff. thats when i was just thinking like hmmm. what would i do?

yeah see i dont smoke, drink, party, etc. so im sure someone thinks im boring. but really im just more still than most.

yeah ive seen that quite a bit with guys. to me the way they scope out chicks. to me that just seems really lame. but i suppose if i were to do that, the main thing i'd focus on is the face.
so if the face attracts me, then nothing else matters much.

yeah i figure working out is the right thing to do.so i keep at it.

well the orthodontist said when i bite, that my teeth align properly but when i relax, my lower teeth kinda move over to the left. so i dont think my face looks straight no matter what i do.

well i went to a dentist/surgeon/doctor about my issue. hes the head chairman of so and so.
and he said the orthodontist was wrong. that my left jaw didnt just dissapear. that it was a genetic defect. where my right side of my jaw grew more , while the left stopped.
i forgot what he said the name was, cause he kept it really down to earth, so i would understand.

basically the solution is that i would need to be on braces for 9 months. to have my teeth be alligned and basically perfect. then once they are perfect , that he will then do the surgery. in which he will wire my teeth together and just rearrange my jaw. and put screws and plates in there. that ill be knocked out during the procedure. when i awake, my mouth wont be wired shut. so i can move my jaw up and down and talk normally. that i should be out of the hospital the next afternoon, that for like 2 months ill be seeing him frequently to make sure all goes well. once my face is healed. that i will be put back on braces for several more months. which would be working specifically on certain teeth. to make sure my bite is just right.

so the whole thing will take about 22 months total. and once thats all done with, that i have the choice of having the screws taken out or just leave them in place.

now the freaky part is, that theres no cutting or slicing involved. its all thru the mouth. so to me thats like whoa! 0_o

though first things first. is that i need a bone scan of my face. to make sure my jaw isnt still growing. if it is, then he said we will wait another year and then do another bone scan. but that if the bone stopped growing. then we can go ahead with the procedure.
but that its not a bone disease, that i wont die from it lol. so that i can wait till im ready and pepared for it all. as well as have the insurance and what not taken care of.

so thats officially my situation. which to me is damn scary but i mean i dont want to live out the rest of my life with a crooked face or have my teeth wind up being even more out of whack.

hi guys, im glad theres more ppl out there with this problem haha. well i guess its not the best thing lol. I have the same issue, i noticed it around the age of 17 or so, im 25 atm. I started noticing through photos and reverse mirror images, however in everyday looking in the mirror, i dont notice it. I believe this is because the change is so gradual that your brain gets used to it and since the image through the mirror is always 1 direction, you dont notice the asymetrical difference. It's when you look at an inverted image, ie:photo, or double mirror, that you notice the difference. All my friends and family think im nuts when i tell them my face is lop sided because i guess with them, its the same as they gradually comprehend the change, they dont see it.

with me, my right side is longer than the left, my muscles on that side is more developed as well. feels like my whole right side of the face is melting downwards while the left is being compressed haha. the upper jaw line is almost crooked, along with my eyes now =( WHYYYY! i used to be attractive hahaha.

i didnt notice any significant change in my lifestyle that could of caused this. however when i was 15 or so i did bonk my head on the bottom of the pool pretty damn hard when i dove in the shallow end... yea pretty stupid... could that of caused some nerved dmg or something? anyone else bonk their head? lol

'short' side

soooo anyone figure out how to fix this yet?

i believe you have what i have. where one side grew longer than the other.
the 'cant' as the doctor told me is not balanced. and ur lower jaw is also crooked. its of course more noticeable when you smile. but from the frontal pic, i can clearly see that one side kinda droops down lower than the other.
i dont think it makes u unattractive though. from the side angles, i didnt notice the imbalance.
