hi guys, im glad theres more ppl out there with this problem haha. well i guess its not the best thing lol. I have the same issue, i noticed it around the age of 17 or so, im 25 atm. I started noticing through photos and reverse mirror images, however in everyday looking in the mirror, i dont notice it. I believe this is because the change is so gradual that your brain gets used to it and since the image through the mirror is always 1 direction, you dont notice the asymetrical difference. It's when you look at an inverted image, ie:photo, or double mirror, that you notice the difference. All my friends and family think im nuts when i tell them my face is lop sided because i guess with them, its the same as they gradually comprehend the change, they dont see it.

with me, my right side is longer than the left, my muscles on that side is more developed as well. feels like my whole right side of the face is melting downwards while the left is being compressed haha. the upper jaw line is almost crooked, along with my eyes now =( WHYYYY! i used to be attractive hahaha.

i didnt notice any significant change in my lifestyle that could of caused this. however when i was 15 or so i did bonk my head on the bottom of the pool pretty damn hard when i dove in the shallow end... yea pretty stupid... could that of caused some nerved dmg or something? anyone else bonk their head? lol

frontal:

teeth line crooked too
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/Bli nky2001/4.jpg

'long' side
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/Bli nky2001/2.jpg

'short' side
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/Bli nky2001/3.jpg

soooo anyone figure out how to fix this yet?

Hey man, I went through all of your photos, particularly the last two. I studied each for a few minutes, and honestly I see NOTHING WRONG. BOTH SIDES LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME, and I have the same problem with my face (or mind), so I look for differences even if they're subtle

I agree
You should consier yourself fortunate to have such a nice face. There are so many people out in the world with deformities, and here you are complaining you are LOPSIDED. You look fine, your teeth look fine. You may be a little obsessed with the way you look and I'm not sure why. You have bautiful eyes, a nice nose, cheek bones, a nice mouth and great teeth. You can see, you can hear, you can speak.....be grateful and thankful for what you have..........and who you are......

I know I'm beating a dead horse but...
I promise (maybe) this will be my last post. I want you guys to look at what I'm looking at. Look how the good pic, the nose seems nice but in the second pic, my nose seems to be "scrunched" toward the same size. You guys see it?

Good pic.

Bad pic.

Hey guys!

Kirrabeachbum, i saw some of your videos, and i think i see a little asymmetry on your face, but only when you're talking... to me it looks like your mouth has like more movility on your right side. I don't know how to explain this, ... it's like your right muscles do most the work when you talk, so your mouth seems to go that way. (I can totally see up to your pre-molars on your right side, and on your left i can only see to your front incisor or the tooth that comes after that, but i can't see your canine on that side!) But you have a totally cute smile, and look attractive overall. And when you're all serious, with mouth closed you look very symmetrical. And your nose looks fine from all angles as far as i could tell, by the way. And c'mon! lol, no one is telling you not to post anymore! Feel free to post as much as you like... even if you're the most normal one here, haha. And not only normal, you're good looking even!

J_ : I looked at your pics, and from just looking at you, i couldn't tell. Having a second look, it's a little more obvious on the pic where you are smiling. But i really think i found it noticeable because i was deliverately looking for it. After tracing some lines on your face, i could see your chin points slightly, and i mean VERY SLIGHTLY, to your left. On the pic where you have your lips together, the difference is very very slight. On the one where you are smiling, it's a little more. I do see your teeth line isn't totally horizontal, it's a little slanted.
About one side being longer... on pics 2 and 3, i don't really see a substancial difference. On the pic where you're smiling, your right side seems fuller, but i wouldn't worry about that, most faces are wider on one side than the other. That's why when people experiment with composing a symmetrical face out of just one side of their faces, one always turns out looking very thin, and the other very wide.
Anyways, your 'lopsided' thing is very very slight. I can see why your family says you're nuts. In pics it's not really noticeable (unless you already know and scrutinize waaay too much!), and i imagine it's much much less noticeable in real life. Even more so because other than your teeth line not being leveled, they really do look perfect. And your eyes and nose look perfectly normal.
I didn't bonk my head... as a child i did, but i was very symmetrical up until i was 15 or so. That's when it all started to go the wrong way! I really do blame my adult teeth.
Did you have braces? or are your teeth naturally that straight?

Thanks thanks. I used to never think about this stuff but then I found myself thinking about asymmetry a little bit too much. But ever since joining the forum, I've thought about it less and less. Can you see my nose in the second pic above? Doesn't it look "scrunched" compared with the first pic?

Your pics look perfectly normal in my opinion. The smile one looks slightly off, like on a scale of 1 to 100 maybe a .04. Probably just the way you took the pic though

The shape of my nose looks different in each photo. In the bad photo, what I mean by scrunching is that the tip of the nose looks closer to the center of my face than the good pic.

its been a while since i last visited this forum
kirra beach bum and j: i really cant see anything wrong with your faces hehe honestly... i cant even if i scrutinize it for a long time

biani- you look so pretty in pic5. i notice your uneven jaw in 3 pictures when i view them in a slideshow format. i think its good that your face is round.. it hides the jaw problem. but honestly i think you look great.

i hope my face also gets rounder.. only 3 people commented on my asymmetrical jaw but as i posted last time its pretty obvious in most camera angles. impromptu pics and videos makes one look weird. imo people cant tell whats wrong but im sure they know something is wrong with my face.

i hope your ortho consultation works out.. ask a lot of questions to your doctor

menthos- how is your doctor consultation working out? i do feel for you.. we are all in the same boat here. try to relax and i hope your parents will help you if surgery is needed.

i wish i could post my pics but im not that brave. you could always pm me and il just send pics straight into your emails hehe

sometimes i wonder (like most of you) if i will find a person who will be able to take away my insecurities coz i also feel that were naturally attracted to symmetrical features. i only had 1 bf my whole life and that ended pretty badly. so i just pray to God to let me NOT think about this jaw thing too much and let me just live to the fullest .
also i try not to look at mirrors since i see myself like the pic i posted last time... i also get down. there is a lot of negative energy in this forum imo but im glad some people also see their positive sides=)

Frankly, Kirra, i don't see it. I even took both your pics, flipped one of them, placed it on a layer in front of the other one, scaled it so your face was the same side, and flipping through them it looks like an animation of you just tilting your head towards the camera, away from the camera, towards the camera.... your eyes, mouth and nose look shockingly the same, it's as if it was the same side of your face, really. Everything is exactly the same in both.. your mouth, nose, eyes, EVERYTHING!!

Ms. Bean! happy to see you've returned to this forum. Thank you for your kind words. I'm still in consultation with the doctors... they just recently took a 'print' or something like that of my teeth. I'm waiting for them to be done analizing the thing. I think that in my next appointment they'll finally be able to tell me their diagnosis.
I still owe you some pics... i haven't taken any up-close. I think i look ugly in those up-close pics, so i put it off... haha. Maybe we can trade pics, i'll pm you.

About the insecurity thing... I KNOW! sometimes guys just stare at my face... like they look at me, normally, you know, you look at people everyday, but then some of them take a second look, and they have this look on their face... i wonder if they're staring cause they think i'm cute or cause they noticed i'm crooked.

And yeah.. methos, what happened with you?

I never knew until like a year ago that my face was assymetrical until i started taking photos of both sides of my face and until I noticed on video that one side of my face is different than the other. Like wharfrat, the poster above me, i prefer the left side of my face to the right, and my left side of my face is really good-looking but the left side looks different and a little underdeveloped. I think it has something to do with my jaw because the way my ear attaches also looks different on my right side than my left. I'm not sure if sleeping on one side had anything do with it.. My mom and none of my friends ever said that the sides of my face look different but its something i notice everyday and I struggle with anxiety, so the anxiety does nothing to diffuse the situation. Honestly when talking to a girl i always try to shade her to my left lol, and Im always nervous when talking to a girl when she is on my right side. I hate when pictures are taken on my right side because to me it doesn't look as good as my left. I often am nervous when talking to attractive women because of the big discrepancy to me in the sides of my face, enven though I'm told I"m good-looking. I'm a perfectionist of sorts, so it kind of bothers me.

Okay
I'll post another pair of photos. But why do I think my face looks asymmetrical? Is it some sort of mental thing or what? This whole thing only started when I was 20 years old (I"m 24 now) when I moved into my first apartment and it had a three-panel mirror (the ones with a middle and two side panels that swing out).

I don't know why... i browsed the internet to look for something that explained mirror distortion or something, but haven't been successful.
I did find an article on body dysmorphic disorder... which is when you see yourself as being, well, dysmorphic, in some way, when in reality you're not. They talk about mirror gazing... trying to see what's wrong with you, performing mental cosmetic surgery on yourself, etc... Well, i know i do this myself, but I AM asymmetric, it's not imagined. But on your case, Kirra.. well, you look VERY normal! lol I don't mean to imply you got some sort of psychosis going on there, but it's the only explanation i've found. I think the mirrors do play tricks on us, but i don't know how or why yet.

kirra it looks like ur chin maybe points more to the right but its very hard to notice.

haha i think we're all very critical on ourselves because we examine our selves everyday. but 90% of ppel you interact with everyday wont really see our faults.

i think my bone structure isnt that asymetrical (but still is a bit) for me, i knw i chew alot of gum and i always chew with my right side. so the right side jaw muscles are overly developed compared to my right. eating, chewing, etc i recently realized i've always 90% chew with my right side. So now i make sure i only chew with my left lol. we'll see how long it takes to fixe 25 yrs of chewing with my right side =(

i've also always been able to 'pop' my jaw (like cracking your knuckles) since i was very young. I also remember having jaw sore/stiffness when i was a kid also. I notice 95% of the time it pops the right side (my long side) than my left. so maybe i have TMJ? I made an appointment to a neuromscular dentist next week to have it checked out along with getting a cavity filled, first one in 10 yrs =(

Which pic are you referring to regarding my chin? Notice anything about my nose, particularly in the second pic?
