Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me.

I'm a 25 year old male, in good shape apart from a niggling pain in my upper back (usually the right hand side).

It started about a year ago and the pain became so intense in my upper back and neck that I had to go home from work and just sleep. I went to a physio and that helped a bit then I went to a chiropractor prostitute-alined my back and gave me acupuncture.

This helped immensely and the pain was nothing like it was before, however since then there is still a niggling pain in my upper right back. I have been back to the same chirpractor and he says that it's not normal and that as soon as he puts it back in I should be fine unless i'm sitting badly or something.....I do sit at a computer all day at work and at the end of the day I have to collect sun beds in (but then i've been lifting them for 12 years)- I play bass guitar in a band so maybe the weight of the guitar is pulling on me? I have swapped to a lighter guitar.

I do stretches every day and I go to the gym twice as week which I find helps a lot.

I've been seeing another chiropractor who pops my back into place every week or so, usually the t7 or t8 as well as c3 but i'd really like to draw a line under this as it seems silly to be paying someone every week to crack me back into place when i'm only 25!

Thanks for reading and I hope someone has some advice.

I wouldn't go to the chiropractor for too long, after a while it makes you joinst hypermobile and doesn't really help anymore, but the hypermobility is bad for it. My advice would be to get a powerfull muxcle relaxant and ice the part of your spine at the same height as the pain for 10 minutes right after you take it. Don't bother icing the muscle on the side, just the spine. Also, take a hot bath every day, it'll make a big difference.

Thanks for you reply, i've cut down the chiropractor visits and am now working on strengthening the muscles in my upper back with some stretching excercises from a dvd called treat your own back pain - seems to be helping but its early days.

Hello, im also 25 and I have had chronic back pain for 5 years so as you can imagine I have seen a lot of practitioners. My first piece of advice would be to go and see an osteopath as I feel that a treatment from them would be a lot more practical than having your bones cracked, I have found in my experience of this that I have had the most relief from an osteo. See how you go. Good luck.
