Q: Ovary Enlarged

Has anyone ever experienced this? Or know of someone who has? Do you know what might cause an ovary to become enlarged? It's become quite painful. Any ideas?
I've been to the dr, she said wait and see if pain gets better over the next couple of days.

as I said before an enlarged ovary can have many causes.

Without any other details it is not possible to surmise.

What did your doctor think might be the reason?

S/he is probably going to have more information on this as they know your medical history.

Have you any history of pelvic conditions?

For us to give you an answer you need to give some background.

Anyone Else?
Kia,

you have answered this before and called me a liar. You are not welcome to post in this thread. I sent your "liar reply" to the ceo of ehealth. Calling someone a liar who is seeking help is unhelpful.
"see deleted post - sydneygirl".

hi ladies,

i would like to hear from anyone who has actually had an enlarged ovary or knows of someone who did. I am looking for causes.

Anyone else is welcome to answer this question if they have actual knowledge of causes of an enlarged ovary or a helpful suggestion. Thanks.

Maybe you should re-read the post.

You made a post, I replied, then you deleted said post so...

I ask why you deleted your post and asked if you had lied or something in it to cause you to delete, what had been a perfectly reasonable post. Had until that point been the only post you had made that wasn't related to digging up past drama's!
I did not call you a liar - I merely made an enquiry.

As for seeking help - I think you will find that I have gone out of my way to help you find a possible solution - frankly from the limited amount of information you provided at first it was not possible to surmise an answer.
Unfortunatley, I failed psychic ed at school and have to make do the old fashioned way by asking questions to eliminate other causes.

I'm sorry if my answer is not what you want to hear.
However, I am a long time member of this community and I shall choose where to post.

Also no-one is going to be able to give you an answer unless you provide a bit more info.

See questions in above post for an idea of where to begin.

Still Unhelpful
Kia, you are not welcome in this post. Please go away. People do not need any other information, they have either suffered from this or not.

I wish to hear what caused their enlarged ovary. I am not here so you can diagnose me. Let other people answer ... Women who have actually had an enlarged ovary ... You obviously haven't. Please move on to another post and leave this one alone.

Hey sydney girl

an enlarged ovary? What are your symptoms hun? I have actually had an ovary removed, so maybe I can help?

I had no pain whatsoever, the only way I knew that something was wrong was that I was bleeding menstrually for 20 days straight. I went to my gp and he told me he thought I had an ovarian cyst. He booked me into a gynocholigist and they did an ultrasound and sure enough, I had a massive cyst.

It had 600ml of fluid in it! They did keyhole surgery on it to remove the fluid but unfortunately I lost an ovary. Thankfully it was benign, but I have to stay on the pill now until I want to start a family (im only 21) or else theres a chance I will lose my other ovary.

Perhaps you have a cyst?

My Ultrasound Results ...
Hi krittyk, thanks for your reply, you're so young to have lost an ovary, only 21! I hope everything stays well for you.

I have had an ultrasound, unfortunately there is no cyst or fluid in the ovary it's just very large (and painful).

I had a hysterectomy feb 9 and have had pain at the site where they removed the cervix. Apparently this pain is quite normal and I am just a slow healer. I don't have a fever so there's no post-op infection, and i've been tested for a uti and swabed for any other type of infection which was all negative.

So you can see it's a bit of a mystery. Any other thoughts are most welcome and thanks again for sharing your story. Take care.

I Have Endometriosis And Adenomyosis
Hi krit,

thanks, I had a read of the website, it's got good explainations.

I have endometriosis and I had adenomyosis - this condition is like endometriosis, but not exactly the same. Cells that normally line your uterus invade the muscle tissue of the uterus wall. That's why I had a hysterectomy, so the adeno would not progress any further. I'll ask the surgeon if the endo could make the ovary enlarged, my gp hasn't suggested this.

I'd say all the microscopic endo has been disturbed by the surgery hence all the pain, however I wasn't sure about the ovary and if there was anything I could do about it. Thanks again for the link, it was helpful.

Cheers, :d

you said you've lost an ovary...
my question is for kritty k.

you said you have lost an ovary. do you have children? i potentially may be going through the same thing but was curious what the chances of future conception with one vary.
thanks
