Starting Cereal

Ok, it seems to me my baby isn't getting enough to eat. She's drinking 5 ounces a sitting and before she'd go about 4 hours before being hungry. Now she wants to eat about every hour and a half to two hours. She's drooling a lot already and she just turned a month old yesterday. When did you all start your lil ones on cereal? I will be talking to her pediatrician, I was just curious as to when the rest of you started them on cereal. Thanks!

Both mine started on 'solids' at about 3 1/2 months. There digestive systems cant handle them much before that age. It was only about the amount of 2 small teaspoons too.

Are you bottle feeding? Have you tried a baby formula for hungrier babies?, my 2nd son guzzled like there was no tomorrow when he was her age so that is what we had to do.

Mine didnt like the cereals or rice at all, so I used to puree apples, mangos and bananas (or fruit like it) at first, then went on to using vegtables like sweet potatoes this satisfied their hunger without the constipation!

All three of my children started solids (mased potatoes, cereal, mashed bananas etc.) during their first month. They're all fine with no food allergies at all. All of mine were always starving even though I fed on demand. None of them are even close to overweight and all love a large variety of foods. I know what the doctor's say but everyone in my family has done the same, even my mother in law and none of her kids have any food allergies or any adverse affects. I always breastfed them before I fed them any solids and none of them had any problems. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Have a great day.

You sound a lot like me and my babies mashed potatoes, mashed bananas, carrots, especially my son, he never cared much for baby food except for some of the meats and fruits. My daughter was not that particular.
The best to all!

Yeah, it's funny none of my kids liked baby food. Spit it right out but table food mashed to their liking was always welcome :) we never use added salt or anything like that so it was still healthy. Even my middle girl who is special needs wouldn't touch the stuff. So we had to blender everything. Looks gross but boy did they love it.

Thanks for all the replies!!
When me and my brothers were babies, the doctor always said as soon as the baby drools they have the enzymes to break the food down and it was fine to give them cereal. But now 24 years later, they say 4 to 6 months regardless. I know the times have changed, but babies haven't! I don't understand why they change their minds so much! But I hope to talk to the doctor monday to see if I can. I hate asking permission, it's my baby for crying out loud! But I don't want her to get an upset tummy or anything. :( poor baby is hungry tho! I guess if her system accepts it, she'll be fine eating it now.
